01/05/2026 – On Friday (1st), a robbery attempt turned into a shootout on Maricá Street, Campinho, North Rio, when a motorcyclist resisted two armed attackers. After being struck and forced to the ground, the man fought one of the criminals and managed to seize his weapon. He then opened fire on the assailants, who fled despite the gunshots.

The action aims to dismantle a criminal organization suspected of massive fraud in renovation contracts and equipment procurement within the State Education Department. The investigation targets a scheme that funneled public funds to companies linked to the group, also involving former deputy Rodrigo Bacellar. In total, 7 arrest warrants and 23 search warrants were issued by the Supreme Court.
