19/06/2026 – On Friday (19), detectives from the 123rd Police Precinct closed an 11-year-old cold case by arresting a fugitive wanted for aggravated murder along Estrada do Imburo, in the Ajuda de Cima neighborhood. The original crime took place on July 11, 2015, on Estrada de Cantagalo in the neighboring municipality of Rio das Ostras, where the attacker hid in a pitch-black stretch of road to blindside the victim, stabbing them to death in a premeditated ambush. After over a decade of evading law enforcement, the suspect’s location was uncovered by Civil Police intelligence units, who executed the long-standing arrest warrant.

20/06/2026 – On Saturday (20), a double homicide took place inside a bar in the Aroeira neighborhood, triggered by an earlier dispute at a different establishment. The gunman walked into the venue, called out one of the victims by name, and opened fire, killing one man instantly and mortally wounding a second, who died shortly after being rushed to the Hospital. By auditing local security cameras, police quickly tracked the shooter’s getaway car and arrested the prime suspect hours later in Areia Branca. Officers seized a .38-caliber revolver with three spent casings from the suspect.
