02/07/2026 – On Thursday (2), a shootout between Rio’s 33rd Military Police Battalion and the Red Command (CV) cartel at Morro da Caixa D’Água left one gunman dead and another captured. A 23-year-old operative died from his injuries at Japuíba Municipal Hospital after opening fire on a patrol, while a 22-year-old lookout was arrested on a nearby staircase. Officers recovered a 9mm pistol, tactical radios, and a multi-drug supply cache worth over R$ 15,500.
03/07/2026 – On Friday (3), a joint Civil and Military Police raid dismantled a Red Command (CV) drug cell at Morro do Santo Antônio, resulting in seven arrests. Among those captured was a 21-year-old cartel enforcer who was wanted under an active warrant for aggravated homicide and body concealment. Six of the seven suspects were identified as repeat offenders, and officers seized a massive multi-drug cache ready for street-level distribution.

The suspect bypassed court-ordered restrictions to confront and threaten his ex-partner at her home. Following an intelligence tracking operation backed by local military police, he was apprehended without resistance in the Japuíba neighborhood and remains held in preventive custody.
