07/03/2023 – Armed criminals stole personal belongings, watches, cell phones, computers used by the company, among other items. The whole action, however, seemed very cautious and calm, which led the victims to conclude that it would not be the robbers’ first time.

08/03/2023 – A 19-year-old young man died and another, of the same age, was shot at dawn on Wednesday (7), in the Maria Ortiz neighborhood, in Vitória. Witnesses reported to the police that there was turmoil and despair at the time of the shooting.
09/03/2023 – Cops were patrolling the neighborhood saw men acting suspiciously. The officers tackled the group, but each suspect ran in one direction. Shots were exchanged on the stairs and alleys in the area. Part of the group managed to flee, but a young man who had the drugs and the gun was detained when he tried to flee by sea.
12/03/2023 – A man was shot dead in the early hours of Sunday (12) in Vitória. The crime took place near the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Capital of Espírito Santo. According to the Military Police, the victim was hit by several firearm shots.
15/03/2023 – Two men were shot dead this Thursday afternoon (15), in the Ilha do Príncipe neighborhood, in Vitória. According to witnesses, everything happened in an alley in the region, in a place known to be a point of drug trafficking.
20/03/2023 – A 30-year-old man was shot on Monday afternoon (20), in the São Pedro neighborhood, in Vitória. He was hit by the shots while walking through the region. The victim told the police that two men, on a red motorcycle, passed on the street shooting and he ended up shot in the abdomen. The victim was rescued by people who witnessed the crime.
22/03/2023 – A 38-year-old man was shot after exchanging fire with the Special Missions Battalion of the Military Police at Morro do Cabral, in Vitória, last Wednesday night (22). According to the police, the team was patrolling in the region when it entered an area known as Carambola, which, according to the PM itself, is dominated by drug trafficking.
28/03/2023 – A woman was assaulted and assaulted on the morning of this Tuesday (28), around 8am, in Jardim da Penha, Vitória. The victim expected an app driver when she was approached. According to witnesses, the woman was on the sidewalk when two suspects approached on a motorcycle.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- During summer months, petty crimes rise on the city waterfront. The Praia do Canto is particularly targeted by criminals.
- Crowded beaches and its vicinities should be avoided.
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Centro (downtown), Jardim da Penha, Jardim Camburi, and Enseada do Sua concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bonfim, São Bento, Da Penha.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall. Avoid walking through tunnels.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
- Exercise caution in the Centro during the day and avoid the area after nightfall and during the weekends.
