The Superior Electoral Court (TSE) approved on Tuesday (13) a pilot project for 2022 elections to include the use of biometrics and the participation of volunteer voters in the so-called integrity test. The objective is to verify that the vote cast is the same as that recorded by the electronic ballot box. This test is conducted on the Election Day by the Electoral Justice with the support of an external audit. The printed and pre-filled ballots are typed by Electoral Justice servers in the ballot boxes included in the test. The elector who agrees to participate will contribute only with biometrics: the votes themselves will be entered by Electoral Justice servers, based on a pre-filled list. Since 2002, the integrity test simulates normal voting and is performed in the regional electoral courts on election day. Without the biometrics test, the audit did not include the participation of voters. The 640 ballot boxes that will participate in the test will be randomly selected and removed from the polling stations.
