According to media sources, Petrobras, the biggest Brazilian company, remains under pressure due to the increase in oil prices on the international market. However, conditions have become worse after Mataripe refinery, in Bahia, readjusted the price of gasoline and diesel on 8 October.
Readjustments
According to Acelen, owner of the unit, the price of gasoline A for distributors was up 9.7%, on average. The S 10 diesel was readjusted by 11.3%. And the S 500 diesel had an increase of 11.5%.
After the adjustment, the value charged by the Mataripe Refinery is aligned with international prices, according to data from Abicom, the association that brings together fuel importers.
Lower Prices
Data from Abicom indicate that the gasoline sold by Petrobras today has a price 10% lower (R$ 0.36 per litre) in relation to the international market. In the case of diesel, the value sold by the state-owned company is 13% (R$0.75 per liter) lower in the country.
Political Pressure
Within Petrobras, despite the pressure to increase prices, the government has already determined that the values are not high. Media outlets informed that the pressure from the Federal Government is for the price of gasoline and diesel to be reduced before the second round of elections, at the end of the month.
