According to the Civil Defense survey, there are 141,300 people away from home, 19,300 in shelters, and 121,900 in the homes of family or friends. In total, 345 of the state’s 496 municipalities recorded some type of problem, affecting 850,000 people.
Rain Is Going to Return
The forecast of rain from the middle of this week in areas already hit by storms puts the state on alert again. According to Climatempo Meteorologia, the advance of a new cold front will once again cause an increase in heavy rain conditions. The possibility of increasing cold could make rescues difficult.
Guaíba River
The level of Guaíba, in Porto Alegre, is almost 2.30 meters above the flood level. In a measurement carried out at 5:15 am on Monday (06/05), the level was 5.26 meters. The flood limit is 3 meters.
Emergency
The government declared a state of calamity, a situation that was recognized by the federal government. With this, the state can request federal resources for civil defense actions, such as humanitarian assistance, reconstruction of infrastructure, and reestablishment of essential services.
Lack of Light
In total, according to the concessionaires responsible for supplying electricity in RS, 443,000 customers are without electricity on Monday (06/05).
Blocked Roads
In total, there are blockages at 102 points on state highways and 61 on federal highways.
