Using a specialized detection dog, officers uncovered a hidden cache containing a 9mm pistol, ammunition, and hundreds of retail doses of cocaine, crack, and marijuana. The operation stripped an estimated BRL16.247 from the cartel’s local logistics cell.

12/07/2026 – On Sunday (12), an undercover intelligence unit (P2) from the 33rd BPM shot and killed a local drug cartel manager during a fierce gunfight in the Japuíba neighborhood. Following a one-hour stakeout on Rua Ari Caetano, plainclothes officers moved in to arrest the suspects, who opened fire before one was neutralized and the other fled into a mangrove swamp. 15/07/2026 – On Wednesday (15), a joint intelligence operation by the 166th DP and 12th DP (Copacabana) arrested a 41-year-old homicide fugitive working at a shop in the Parque das Palmeiras neighborhood. Wanted in Minas Gerais since 2021 for a retaliatory bar shooting, the suspect violently resisted the workplace arrest, shouting obscenities and death threats at the detectives. He was subdued and booked in flagrante for resistance and contempt alongside the standing warrant.
