01/12/2025 – The suspect, who killed his 17-year-old ex-girlfriend with five shots because he refused to accept their separation, turned himself in at the 166th Precinct in Angra on Monday (1st). The man was wanted for the femicide committed in Cidade de Deus, Southwest Zone, on Sunday (30). He was transferred to the Capital Homicide Division (DHC), with unconfirmed reports suggesting he surrendered out of fear of execution by organized crime.
01/12/2025 – A 23-year-old man was executed in Camorim Pequeno, Angra dos Reis, on Monday night (1st), after being shot multiple times. The body was found on Rua Nossa Senhora Aparecida with 14 spent 5.56 casings nearby. Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media suggest he was executed by the Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) for switching allegiance to the rival Comando Vermelho (CV).

02/12/2025 – The Military Police conducted an operation in Morro da Constância, in the Frade neighborhood, on Tuesday night (2), resulting in the arrest of a 43-year-old man. The suspect, a known drug “runner” for the Comando Vermelho (CV), was found with a military grenade, a walkie-talkie, and narcotics. Police noted this was the third time the man had been arrested in the same location. During the arrest, residents and relatives of the suspect attacked and insulted the police officers.
04/12/2025 – The notorious drug trafficker ‘MV’ (27), the Comando Vermelho (CV) chief in Morro da Lambicada, was killed in a shootout with Military Police on Thursday night (4), in Morro do Santo Antônio. ‘MV’ was known for terrorizing the community, extorting merchants, and forcing residents to buy certain internet packages. The confrontation occurred as agents were pursuing criminal remnants, following a Civil Police operation earlier that day, when a 15-year-old girl was apprehended.
06/12/2025 – Civil Police arrested two men, 23 and 42, in Morro da Fortaleza, Angra dos Reis, on Saturday (6), during Operation Arrasto against drug trafficking. Undercover agents discovered the drug sales point operating like a “fair”, with various drugs openly displayed on a table for “customers”. The police arrested the two “sellers” in the act and seized large quantities of marijuana, crack, hashish, and cocaine. The men were charged with drug trafficking and association for trafficking.
07/12/2025 – A 20-year-old woman suffered severe burns (80% of her body) in Parque Mambucaba on Sunday morning (7), after her partner set her on fire. The victim told police the man threw alcohol on her, contradicting his claim of an accident, and the attack allegedly occurred in front of his 9-year-old daughter. The partner was arrested in the act for attempted femicide.
07/12/2025 – Civil Police in Angra dos Reis solved the disappearance and murder of two cousins from Bahia on Sunday (7), arresting one suspect. The victims, shipyard workers, were allegedly killed by the Comando Vermelho (CV) drug faction chief, ‘MV’, over suspected drug theft in Morro da Lambicada, on November 30. The arrested suspect led police to the bodies, found buried under concrete in a shallow grave. The main perpetrator (‘MV’) was killed in a confrontation with the Military Police on December 4.
09/12/2025 – A man was arrested in flagrante delicto for attempted homicide on Tuesday (9), in Praia do Anil. He was detained after invading a residence and threatening Civil Police officers with a knife. The suspect, who was out on parole after being charged with a double homicide by stabbing in February 2025, had been recognized and assaulted by locals moments earlier. The man resisted arrest by attempting to strike the police with the knife before eventually surrendering.
09/12/2025 – A Civil Police operation, “Operation KIRA,” resulted in the arrest of a man and the seizure of 134 cocaine capsules in the Bracuí community of Angra dos Reis on Tuesday afternoon (9). The suspect was one of three individuals who attempted to flee when approached by police near a drug sales point (Rua das Acácias with Rua Jasmin). The sniffer dog, KIRA, played a decisive role in locating 26 capsules of the narcotics hidden nearby.
12/12/2025 – Military Police arrested a 45-year-old man on Friday (12), on charges of vulnerable rape. The individual is accused of sexually abusing his two stepchildren, aged seven and nine. He also faces a separate charge regarding the rape of his three-year-old niece, where he reportedly threatened the family to prevent reporting. The suspect, who was subject to a preventive arrest warrant issued in March, was captured in the Parque Mambucaba neighborhood while attempting to flee the city in a ride-share vehicle.
14/12/2025 – Drug addicts burglarized the Municipal Vaccination Center (Imuniza Angra), in Parque Mambucaba, a second time on Sunday (14), to steal copper cables from air conditioners to buy crack. This act compromised the refrigeration system, endangering the integrity of the vaccine stock and forcing the suspension of distribution. Following this theft, police arrested a 22-year-old man for receiving stolen goods in Morro do Tatu.
15/12/2025 – On Sunday (15), the Comando Vermelho (CV) reportedly seized control of the Sapinhatuba 1 and 2 neighborhoods from the rival TCP faction. The invasion triggered intense shootouts, leading to a major police operation on Monday morning (16) to restore order. During the sweep, officers seized rifle ammunition and tactical gear, while unconfirmed reports suggest a CV member was killed in the clashes.
18/12/2025 – On Thursday (18), the Civil Police arrested a 54-year-old fugitive in the Santa Rita II neighborhood, who was wanted for a 2007 armed robbery with hostages and 2009 drug trafficking. The individual had been living as a seemingly law-abiding citizen while working at a concrete factory in the city. He was captured at his workplace to serve a definitive sentence of over 15 years in prison.
18/12/2025 – On Thursday (18), an operation, prompted by an anonymous tip, lead the Military Police in the arrest of a drug trafficking suspect in Morro da Lagartixa, in Campo Belo. At the scene, which is controlled by the Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal faction, officers seized 210 pins of cocaine, 180 rocks of crack cocaine, 87 strips of marijuana, and other items, including radio transmitters and ether. One of the four men spotted was captured after trying to flee through the woods, while the others managed to escape.
23/12/2025 – On Tuesday (23), 20-year-old Bárbara Vitória de Oliveira Almeida died at the Alberto Torres State Hospital (São Gonçalo) after fighting for her life for over two weeks. On December 7, her partner set her on fire in their home in Parque Mambucaba, Angra dos Reis, causing burns to 80% of her body. Although the suspect initially claimed the fire was caused by an air conditioning malfunction, the victim identified him as the attacker before losing consciousness. The perpetrator, who has a history of domestic violence, was arrested in flagrante delicto and now faces charges for femicide.
23/12/2025 – On Tuesday (23), military police arrested retired PM-RS officer Jeverson Olmiro Lopes Goulart (60) at a guesthouse. Goulart had been sentenced in October to 46 years in prison for the 2016 rape and murder of his 12-year-old nephew, Andrei Ronaldo Goulart Gonçalves. Prosecutors revealed that the officer killed the boy to cover up sexual abuse and attempted to stage the scene as a suicide. The arrest followed an anonymous tip to the “Disque Denúncia” hotline, which had issued a “wanted” poster just one day prior.
26/12/2025 – On Friday (26), the “Choque de Ordem” team in Angra dos Reis shut down an illegal party on Machado Beach following several noise complaints. The operation neutralized a “sound wall” audible over 3 km away, which was severely disturbing local residents, including the elderly and children. Enforcing a 2020 municipal decree, authorities seized the equipment to restore public peace and ensure order on the coastline.
28/12/2025 – On Sunday (28), undercover officers from the 33rd BPM arrested a 21-year-old drug trafficking manager known as “Orelha” during a raid in the Japuíba neighborhood. Police discovered a “trafficking tent” where suspects were openly selling drugs like a market stall. While four individuals escaped, the suspect surrendered after discarding a replica pistol. Officers seized cocaine, marijuana, ether, and a communication radio at the scene.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered every week.
- If you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- If you are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from any windows, and do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Pay attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Morro da Fortaleza, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade, Bracuí, Morro do Santo Antônio, and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas and after nightfall.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts, and robberies.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
