31/05/2024 – A woman was arrested in the Banqueta neighborhood, accused of stalking and abandonment of an incapacitated person, on Friday (31). According to information she lost custody of her two minor children due to constant complaints of abandonment. From the court decision, she began to stalk and invade the homes of the people who has custody of the children.
01/06/2024 – Agents from Frade’s Proximity Police Unit (UPP) seized several types of drugs during a routine patrol in the neighborhood. The seizure took place on Saturday night (01/06). Among the materials were 106 pins of cocaine and 101 strips of marijuana.
06/06/2024 – A young man was arrested in Morro do Santo Antônio by the police as he was carrying more than 2kg of cocaine on himself. According to the police, he was also found with 870 capsules of the same drug, 35 crack rocks, and 12 strips of marijuana.

11/06/2024 – A minor was apprehended by the Military Police in Morro da Carioca, in the center of Angra dos Reis. Moreover, the police seized 54 pins of cocaine, nine strips of marijuana, and R$115 in cash.
12/06/2024 – Vitória Monteiro dos Santos, aka “Xuxu”, a fugitive from justice, was arrested in the Bracuí neighborhood. According to the military police, she collaborated with local drug traffickers to implement barricades in the community. She previously had been arrested in possession of a radio transmitter and cash, during a police operation in the same location.
13/06/2024 – Police carried out an operation in Morro da Fortaleza and arrested two drug dealers from the Red Command (CV). The police seized 140 pins of cocaine, 110 wraps of crack, 101 wraps and 18 tablets of marijuana, five bottles of poppers, two bottles of ether, two radio transmitters, and R$77 in cash.
13/06/2024 – The Police that patrolled the Morro da Glória seized drugs ready for sale to addicts. The operation confiscated 270 cocaine pins, 105 strips of marijuana, and two radio transmitters, used by scouts to alert the boca de fumo of the arrival of the police.
14/06/2024 – A man got killed by his wife after assaulting and trying to kill her inside the couple’s home, in the locality known as Gruta, in Frade. Neighbors heard the screams and reported the incident to the Military Police. According to the report, the woman claimed that her husband had been drinking alcohol, tried to hit her with a hammer, and then came at her with a knife.
16/06/2024 – On Sunday (16), the Military Police from the 4th Environmental Policing Unit (Juatinga) went to Santa Rita do Bracuí, where they identified slope cutting and deforestation. According to the authorities, when they arrived, they found an area of around 200 square meters, demarcated with wires, where there was evidence of soil movement from slope cuts and the deforestation of five small, medium, and large trees, without a license plate. However, the perpetrators could not be found.
18/06/2024 – Following information about drug trafficking forwarded by the Angra Hotline, police in Angra dos Reis carried out an operation on Tuesday (18) in Morro da Glória I. There, they arrested the local drug trafficking manager and four other people and seized a large quantity of narcotics. According to the police, 200 cocaine capsules, 114 marijuana tablets, 28 marijuana strips, 28 crack rocks, and three cell phones were seized.
19/06/2024 – More than 2,000 cocaine pins were seized on Wednesday morning (19) in a joint operation by the Civil and Military Police to serve an arrest warrant in Angra dos Reis. According to the PM, the drugs were found in an apartment located in the Banqueta neighborhood. Along with the 2,082 cocaine pins, an identification document of the suspect, a 38-year-old man, was found.
20/06/2024 – Civil police officers carried out Operation Rael at dawn on Thursday (20). The objective was to dismantle a gang specialized in internet scams, such as extortion and embezzlement through false kidnapping, as well as money laundering through precious stone trading companies. In Angra, a search and seizure warrant was served at the home of a lawyer. A preventive arrest warrant was also served at the home of Júlio Gabriel Melo da Silva de Souza, also known as “Menor do Pix”.
20/06/2024 – On Thursday (20), police officers from the P-2 Reserved Service of the 33rd BPM carried out an intelligence operation in Sapinhatuba I, where they managed to arrest the favela’s leader, Bernardo Gomes da Silva, alias “Simba”. He had already been on the Wanted Portal, of the Disque Denunciation, since April 2020. According to the P-2 team that carried out the arrest, the trafficker was found in possession of a pistol, ammunition, and a radio communicator. According to intelligence gathering, Simba is from the Terceiro Comando Puro (TCP) and is the current head of the drug trade in the Sapinhatuba I locality.
24/06/2024 – An 18-year-old man died on Monday (24) at the Municipal Hospital of Japuíba (HMJ), after being hit by four shots in the torso on Sunday morning (23), in Vila Nova, formerly Tararaca. According to the report, he and another young man passed through Rua Prefeito João Galindo shooting in the air, and went down to Vila Nova. A military police officer assigned to the 2nd CIPM, in Paraty, who was off duty in the neighborhood, thought the pair were going to commit a robbery and shot them. The victim’s colleague was grazed in one of his hands.
25/06/2024 – Military Police seized approximately 1.5kg of cocaine in Morro da Gloria on Tuesday (25). The police received a tip about a potential drug laboratory in the area, when they went to investigate, they found the laboratory with the cocaine which was worth around R$20,000.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered almost every month.
- In the case you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- If your are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts and robberies.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
