03/06/2022 – A 16-year-old teenager was shot during an exchange of fire between civil police officers and suspects in the locality known as Caixa D’água, in the central region of the city. The confrontation occurred when police were checking a drug trafficking report at the scene. Suspects fired, and agents retaliated. In the end, the suspects fled leaving behind a large tablet of marijuana, 580 cocaine capsules and a communicator.
04/06/2022 – One man died and another was shot after a shootout with military police that took place in Morro da Glória II. PMs went there after receiving reports that armed men were selling drugs in the area.
16/06/2022 – A man was shot dead on BR-101 (Rodovia Rio-Santos). The crime took place near the Água Santa neighborhood. According to the Federal Highway Police, the victim was hit by several shots.
20/06/2022 – A young man suspected of being part of a gang specialized in bus robbery was arrested. According to Military Police, the group had committed six robberies in the last ten days. The crime took place on BR-101 (Rodovia Rio-Santos). Thieves got on the buses in the Campo Belo neighborhood, committed robberies and got off in the Japuíba neighborhood.
20/06/2022 – Civil Police arrested a man who violently beat a young man with a club during a traffic argument. The aggression took place on Sunday night (19/06), at a gas station near the entrance to the Banqueta neighborhood. The attacker was on a motorcycle and fled shortly after the fight.
23/06/2022 – An operation caried out by Military Police ended with one man dead, twelve arrested and a teenager apprehended in the cities of: Angra dos Reis, Barra do Piraí, Paraty, Resende and Volta Redonda. In Angra dos Reis, the operation took place in Lambicada and Manguinhos neighbourhoods, one man was arrested, and drugs seized.
24/06/2022 – A shooting between criminals and military police took place in Areal neighborhood. According to the Military Police, agents were patrolling the neighborhood when they were shot by armed drug dealers.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking were also registered this month.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba and Morro da Glória.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
