02/10/2026 – On Friday (2), Macaé’s municipal government and the 32nd Military Police Battalion conducted a joint inspection of gas distributors in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood, aiming to prevent criminal organizations from interfering with local businesses and restricting free competition. The operation, coordinated by the Municipal Rapid Response Unit, followed incidents involving gas retailers in September, although authorities have not confirmed whether the cases are connected. Officers inspected business licenses and compliance with fire safety, environmental, and National Petroleum Agency (ANP) regulations. All inspected establishments had the required documentation, and none were closed. Authorities announced that inspections will continue across other commercial sectors to identify possible criminal interference, prevent illegal monopolies, and protect local businesses and consumers.
