06/03/2024 – The police reacted quickly and arrested a bandit in the Center of Macaé. The man had robbed a cell phone and ran away. After being actioned, the officers went after the criminal and arrested him red-handed. The robbed item was retrieved to his owner. The bandit was placed in custody.

07/03/2024 – A woman was caught red-handed selling drugs in Sol e Mar, South Macaé. Indeed, the intelligence service of the police was monitoring her as she was operating on a public square. She was arrested with an important quantity of cocaine and cash. Her accomplices ran away.
10/03/2024 – A jealous man tortured his ex-wife in São José do Barreto, East Macaé. Indeed, after a discussion of jealousy, the man beat up the woman for hours, in front of her 9yo daughter, with the help of various materials such as a cell phone charger cable and a Bible. After the acts of violence, the man fled from the house and the woman and her daughter went to the precinct to charge the bandit.
11/03/2024 – Highway police arrested 2 fugitives during routine controls in 2 different points of Macaé. Indeed, the first bandit was arrested near the Hospital in Virgem Santa. He was under 5 open arrest warrants. Yet, the second was caught near the city hall. He had an open warrant for domestic violence. Both were immediately jailed.
20/03/2024 – A fugitive from Bahia state was arrested in Nova Holanda, central area of Macaé. The man had been running from justice since 2015 when he committed homicide. He also confessed 4 more murders. Bahia state justice put him in a “Crime Deck” as the 10 of diamonds card.
26/03/2024 – A joint operation of the Police captured a woman suspected of illegal actions. The woman was arrested as she was leaving an ATM. She had deposited more than R$ 8,000 and has not explained the origin of the money.
26/03/2024 – A police operation resulted in the recapture of fugitives in Visconde de Araújo, central region of Macaé. During a joint operation, the detectives controlled 3 suspects. Two of them were fugitives and one tried to bribe the cops. They were arrested.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Parque Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be careful when walking downtown, avoid exposing valuables.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
