The partnership between the State Secretariat of the Military Police of Rio de Janeiro (PMERJ) and the Uber transport app started the activities of the “Emergency 190” button, in the first half of October, in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Teresópolis, Cachoeiras Macacu, Silva Jardim, Rio Bonito, Maricá, Niterói, Itaboraí, Tanguá and São Gonçalo. Also present in the state capital, the service was started, on an experimental basis, in early 2022, in Baixada Fluminense.
The service allows integration between the Uber application and the Military Police Operational Control Center (Cecopom), responsible for Service 190. Pressing the “Emergency 190” button on the application screen allows an emergency call and the operators of the 190 Service, subordinate to Cecopom, receive the location of the vehicle in real time and the race data in which the call originated. This allows for an even faster and more accurate response from the police force, without the caller having to verbally convey this information to the attendant. All information – from the vehicle, the user and the driver – is displayed on the computer screen of the operator on duty 24/7.
