To ensure tranquility in the electoral areas, the third largest electoral college in the country, Rio de Janeiro, had a police reinforcement on the weekend of the election. According to the command of the Military Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro, 16,000 agents were mobilized to monitor polling places, public roads and security at the polls.
The Military Police Secretariat’s strategic plan was to closely monitor the 4,844 polling places in Rio. Four aircraft were used in the operation, which had the participation of the Regional Electoral Court and the Ministry of Justice and Public Security. The special scheme started on Saturday morning (29/10) and lasted until Sunday night (30/10).
