27/03/2026 – On Friday morning (27), an armed confrontation between UPP officers and criminals in Morro da Babilônia, in Leme, South Zone, left one suspect injured. The agents were fired upon during a patrol in Largo do Rosário, resulting in bullet marks on a police vehicle. The wounded man was taken to Miguel Couto Hospital, and police seized a rifle and drugs at the scene.

27/03/2026 – On Friday (27), a clash between rival criminal factions at Praca Jauru in Taquara, West Zone, resulted in the deaths of two alleged militia members. The region is currently a battlefield for territorial control between the Comando Vermelho and local militias. Officers from the 18th BPM were called to the scene, where they were attacked and returned fire; they later found two bodies and pistols inside a car with fake license plates. A third man wearing a balaclava was shot and taken into custody at a hospital.
28/03/2026 – On Saturday (28), Military Police officers from the 18th BPM were targeted by a drone carrying homemade explosives in Vila Sapê, Curicica, West Zone. Although no injuries were reported, the device destroyed walls of a local building. Residents report that the use of armed drones has become a recurring tactic in the territorial dispute between the Comando Vermelho, which currently controls the area, and militia groups attempting to regain power.
29/03/2026 – On Sunday night (29), a heavy shootout between Military Police and criminals in Gardenia Azul, West Zone, left one person dead and four wounded. Officers from the 18th BPM responded to the area following reports of a turf war between the Comando Vermelho and local militias. During the operation, police seized an arsenal including four assault rifles and three grenades, as well as a custom-armored vehicle equipped with “loopholes” for precision firing. The four survivors have prior criminal records and remain under custody.
29/03/2026 – On Sunday (29), a man was arrested in Barra da Tijuca, Southwest Zone, after holding his ex-wife and 1-year-old daughter hostage in an apartment. The incident mobilized BOPE (Special Police Operations Battalion) after officers from the 31st BPM identified a critical situation involving psychological violence and threats. Following negotiations, the aggressor released the victims and later surrendered to the police.
31/03/2026 – In the early hours of Tuesday (31), the home of singer MC Poze do Rodo in Recreio dos Bandeirantes, West Zone, was invaded by eight armed criminals. The artist and his friends were held hostage, tied up, and assaulted for approximately 40 minutes. The robbers fled with nearly R$ 2 million in jewelry, as well as cash and other valuables. According to the musician, the attackers claimed to be acting on behalf of drug trafficking leaders to mislead him and reportedly filmed the ordeal.
31/03/2026 – In the early hours of Tuesday (31), a high-speed chase followed by a shootout in Campo Grande, West Zone, left three suspects dead. According to the Military Police, the trio belonged to the Comando Vermelho and was planning to invade territory controlled by a rival faction. After defying a stop order on Estrada Rio do A, the criminals opened fire to officers from the 40th BPM, who returned fire. Two assault rifles, a pistol, and radio transmitters were seized from the vehicle. One officer was injured but has already been discharged.
31/03/2026 – On Tuesday (31), Rio Civil Police arrested a member of the criminal organization led by gambling kingpin Bernardo Bello at a residential complex on Avenida Brasil, in the city’s West Zone. The operation is an offshoot of “Operation Ace of Diamonds 3,” which investigates homicides and violent turf wars over illegal gambling, including the executions of rival mobster Alcebíades Paes Garcia (known as “Bid”) and lawyer Carlos Daniel. The group is accused of using luxury assets for money laundering and maintaining an open war against rival factions for territorial control in Rio.

01/04/2026 – In the early hours of Wednesday (1st), a shootout between police and criminals in the Asa Branca community in Barra Olímpica, Southwest Rio, left two suspects dead and one wounded. Following the incident, protesters set fire to objects and blocked Salvador Allende Avenue, requiring intervention from the crowd control unit (RECOM) to clear the road. At the scene, officers seized two pistols and drugs.
01/04/2026 – On Wednesday (1st), Civil Police launched another phase of Operation Torniquete targeting a gang specialized in luxury vehicle theft across the South and West Zones of Rio. Two suspects were caught in the act with ammunition and key-cloning devices, equipment used by the group along with cloned vans and signal jammers to transport stolen goods. Search warrants were executed in neighborhoods such as Laranjeiras and Santa Teresa to dismantle the gang’s sophisticated logistical and technological infrastructure, which had previously been caught on camera during recent thefts in Copacabana.
01/04/2026 – On Wednesday afternoon (1st), a Military Police operation on Dom Hélder Câmara Avenue in Piedade, North Zone, left one suspect dead and another arrested. The pair, riding a motorcycle, attempted to flee against traffic and exchanged gunfire with officers after being intercepted at a junction. Social media videos captured the escape attempt and the subsequent foot chase. Two revolvers were seized from the suspects.
