05/07/2024 – The Civil Police arrested three men for links to the militia Zinho in Santa Cruz, one arrest took place on Friday (5), the other two on Wednesday (3). The investigation indicated that the suspects were collecting payments from commercial establishments in the region. Four firearms, tactical clothing, and 161 rounds of ammunition were seized during the arrests.
05/07/2024 – The Civil Police arrested a woman suspected of being a member of a gang that commits fraud on Friday (5) and brought the suspect to the Leblon police station. The gang targeted elderly people by pretending to be Federal Revenue inspectors. 15 victims had already given statements and the suspect extorted approximately R$18,000 from one victim on Thursday (4).

05/07/2024 – On Friday (5) a Military Police officer was shot during an attempted robbery in his home in Vista Alegre. It was reported that the officer saw two bandits entering through the backyard on the security camera and tried to prevent the robbery. The officer took one bullet to the arm and another to the chest.
07/07/2024 – A Military Police officer and two others died between Saturday night (6) and Sunday morning (7) in Complexo da Pedreira. This was due to a confrontation between rival drug traffickers fighting over territory in the Chapadão and Pedreira Complexes. According to the reports drug traffickers from Red Command tried to invade the Pedreira Complex, which is under the control of Third Pure Command.
07/07/2024 – The Civil Police arrested two women in Lapa on Sunday morning (7) while they were attempting to commit a crime known as ‘Good night, Cinderella’ (spiked drink scam) against a German tourist. The suspects aimed to take the victim to a hotel and drug the tourist. According to police, the suspects were already being monitored by the intelligence sector. Two medications that would be used to render the victim unconscious were found during the arrest, which took place before the victim ingested it.
07/07/2024 – A fake lawyer scam targets individuals in Rio de Janeiro by criminals who pretend to be responsible for their cases and demand transfers via Pix. A victim stated that she received a message on Sunday (7) accompanied by a photo of her lawyer stating that she would receive R$20,000 in compensation for a lawsuit. However, for this to happen the victim would have to make a Pix transfer of R$980 to a third-party account. When she was unable to pay the full amount, she realized it was a scam and reported it to the police, who stated that this was a common scam in Rio.
08/07/2024 – A civil police operation was launched on Monday (8) and dismantled a gang that invaded the internal system of Banco do Brasil. Three people were arrested and cell phones, vehicles, a firearm, and documents were seized. The investigation began after an internal investigation that detected irregularities reported to the police.
08/07/2024 – A shootout between criminals and Military Police (PM) took place on Monday (8) in Bangu. Agents were in the regions to verify information about an alleged cargo theft which would have been taken to the interior of the community. According to the PM, the teams were attacked by criminals during the raid which led to a shootout.
08/07/2024 – A missing woman was found dead Monday morning (8), in Pavuna. According to preliminary information, the victim’s body was found in her ex-partner’s house, who is considered the main suspect, due to the abusive nature of their relationship. The ex-partner was found dead a few hours after the murder took place.
08/07/2024 – On Monday (8) a car was targeted on Rua General Severiano, in Botafogo by a criminal. Drivers who pass through this street have suffered constant robberies. According to the president of the Botafogo Residents and Friends Association, the number of homeless people has increased due to the sale of crack cocaine in the region’s communities, where users assault pedestrians and drivers for money.
09/07/2024 – A man died, and another was injured after trying to rob a military police officer in Estácio on Tuesday (9). According to witnesses, the officer was in a car when approached by two robbers on a motorcycle. The officer reacted to the approach and fired shots.
09/07/2024 – Thieves stole 26 light projectors from four walkways in Flamengo on Tuesday (9). The information was confirmed by Rioluz, the company responsible for public lighting in the city. The company stated that the objects were protected by barred boxes.
09/07/2024 – A shootout took place between rival criminal groups in Campinho on Tuesday (9). According to the Fogo Cruzado Institute, the shooting began around 3:00, and police were called to the scene to move criminals in the wooded area of the community. The region is experiencing an intense wave of violence due to territorial disputes between the rival criminal organizations Red Command and Third Pure Command.
09/07/2024 – The Civil Police are investigating whether a gang used drones to drop bombs on rivals in the North Zone of Rio. The police obtained videos recorded by drones which were remotely piloted to monitor and attack rivals. One of the images showed a grenade being thrown during a fight in Morro do Quitungo, where the bomb exploded upon touching the ground and injured five people. Investigations indicate that the attack originated from the Israel Complex.
09/07/2024 – A father and son were arrested on Tuesday (9) and Wednesday (10) after attacking another person while driving due to a traffic dispute in Rocha Miranda. The victim approached the suspects and claimed he was almost hit by the other driver during a maneuver, the father disembarked the car and attacked the victim, the son also engaged the victim and began to punch and kick him.
10/07/2024 – At least three armed criminals robbed and assaulted 51 passengers on bus line 2383 on Wednesday morning (10) near Deodoro. According to witnesses, when the driver stopped at the Avenida Brasil footbridge the suspects ran towards the bus and showed their weapons. Witnesses also stated they took rings, money, cell phones, and computers with force.
10/07/2024 – The Federal Revenue Service seized approximately 51 kg of cocaine at Galeão Airport on Wednesday (10). The drugs were found in an unmarked box at the domestic cargo terminal by sniffer dogs. The drugs were valued at R$ 3 million.
10/07/2024 – Federal Highway Police seized almost 25 kg of drugs on the Rio-Niterói Bridge on Wednesday (10). The agents inspected the bridge when they stopped two men on motorcycles who were carrying the substances. 12 kg of marijuana, 10 kg of cocaine, and 2.5 kg of crack were found in the driver’s backpack.
