09/06/2024 – A man was killed, on Sunday (9), at a traffic light, on the corner of Souza Franco and Teodoro da Silva Street, in Vila Isabel, in Rio’s North Zone. The 32-year-old merchant, who according to police would be a partner in the Parada Obrigatória bar, was in his car that was hit by several shots. The Civil Police will investigate whether the crime is linked to a misdemeanor gang. Slot machines were seized at the bar.

11/06/2024 – Two criminals and one Military Police (PM) officer were killed, and others were injured after a PM operation in Maré Tuesday morning (11/06). In retaliation, a bus was set on fire and bandits closed three of Rio’s most important expressways; Avenida Brazil, Linha Vermelha, and Linha Amarela. 24 people were arrested.
11/06/2024 – On Tuesday (11/06), 27 people responsible for corruption and drug trafficking in prison units in Minas Gerais were arrested. Between them, 10 were criminal police officers, one was a military sergeant and three were public servants. The arrests took place in Juiz de Fora, Cataguases, Goianá, Rio de Janeiro, São Gonçalo, Angra dos Reis, Mangaratiba and Três Rios.
12/06/2024 – Military police (PM) carried out a second consecutive day of operation in Complexo da Maré. A bullet went through the window of the Adib Jatene Family Clinic in the early hours of the morning, leaving residents in the area afraid to leave their houses and 44 schools closed.
12/06/2024 – A Militia money laundering scheme that generated R$30 million, from 2021-2024, was the target of a Civil Police operation that took place on Wednesday (12/06) in Rio. The scheme targeted individuals and companies. When executing the 56 warrants that were issued, agents wanted to collect evidence, seize assets, and arrest those involved, in addition to recovering illicit assets.
12/06/2024 – A gang of prostitutes used a database to blackmail clients and profited around R$200,000 in Rio. After conducting their business, the call boy would request payment through PIX to obtain the victim’s personal information such as the victim’s family and address, which was then used for blackmail. The victims appeared to be heterosexual men with families who wished their romantic encounters stayed confidential. One man has been arrested.
12/06/2024 – Wednesday (12) a man was sentenced to 22 years in prison after dressing up as a delivery man and committing a robbery homicide. The convict admitted to robbing the victim, however, he stated that the gun went off unintentionally.
12/06/2024 – Students from an Integrated Public Education Center (Ciep) in Santíssimo were involved in a widespread fight on Wednesday (12/06). An inspector tried to break up the fight and ended up being attacked. Witnesses claim the fight began due to jealousy from one of the students.
13/06/2024 – 270kg of smuggled material was seized in Caju, in the West zone of Rio. Among the smuggled material the police found marijuana, electronics, and Ozempic, a medication for diabetes which must be prescribed by a doctor. The shipment was labeled to contain 270kg of English books, instead of the smuggled items.
13/06/2024 – A taxi driver was arrested in Rio Comprido on Thursday (13/06), for committing fraud in the city transport app paid for by the city hall. The man was considered a fugitive from justice. He was a known associate of a gang that defrauded the taxi app by creating multiple taxi profiles and coercing customers.
13/06/2024 – A 12-year-old girl is in critical condition after she was caught in the crossfire between police and drug traffickers on Ilha do Governador on Thursday (13/06). According to police reports, they were investigating allegations of extortion in Pixunas when they were attacked by drug traffickers. The girl was hit by a stray bullet.
13/06/2024 – Four men were arrested on Thursday (13/06) for a banking scam that generated half a billion reais from 2020-2022. The scam took place in various places such as Barra da Tijuca in the west zone of Rio. The gang used false documents to open shell companies to obtain loans from banks.
