With the death of the National Force police officer, on Tuesday night (28/11), in the West Zone of Rio, the number of security agents shot in the Metropolitan Region of the state this year alone has reached 125. The survey is from the Fogo Cruzado Institute. The figure adds up to 57 dead and 68 injured.

23/11/2023 – A couple had a gun pointed at their face by a criminal in Pilares, North Zone during a robbery. The car’s camera recorded the moments of despair at one of the busiest intersections in the neighborhood. Without caring about the movement, the two criminals closed the car on Avenida Dom Hélder Câmara. The hitchhiker got out pointing a gun at the couple. The criminal tries to take the car but fails and take a cell phone.
24/11/2023 – Military Police Officer Vaneza Lobão, aged 31, was murdered at the door of her house on Rua Passo da Pátria, in Santa Cruz, West Zone. Vaneza was assigned to the Military Judiciary Police Station (DPJM) and worked in the intelligence department, dedicated to investigating militiamen and criminals. According to police information, the killers were already waiting for the police officer as she opened the garage door to enter with her car. She was murdered with rifle shots fired by hooded criminals, who were in a black car.
25/11/2023 – A man identified as Guilherme Carvalho, aged 18, was shot and killed during a demonstration on Avenida Brasil, near Vila Kennedy, West Zone. According to reports from residents, a black car passed by shooting at protesters, who were protesting the death of motorcycle taxi driver Eberson Luiz Santos da Silva. Eberson was shot during a Military Police action in the community. Guilherme Carvalho was reportedly killed by an off-duty police officer.
25/11/2023 – The Public Order Secretariat of Rio (Seop) and the Municipal Guard Internal Affairs Office (GM-Rio) arrested two municipal guards suspected of charging bribes from the owners of a kiosk on the Copacabana beach, South Zone. They were the targets of an investigation by the intelligence sectors of Seop and the internal affairs department of (GM-Rio). According to investigators, they charged a weekly amount to the kiosk owner under the allegation of not imposing fines for disturbing the establishment’s peace.
25/11/2023 – Two criminals broke into and robbed a jewelry store in the Vogue Square shopping mall, in Barra da Tijuca, West Zone. Security footage shows the thieves trying to break into the place. After entering, the men go to the closet where all the establishment’s gold was stored. The action lasted around 5 minutes, but generated a loss of around R$250,000, according to the business owner. The criminals wore wigs and glasses to hinder identification, so it is not known for sure how many people participated in the crime.
26/11/2023 – A shooting attack in the community of Galinha, North Zone, ended with one man dead and two people injured. According to information from the Military Police, the deceased was a fugitive from justice. Military police went to Rua Moreia and found two injured men, one of whom had already died. The Homicide Department was called and is investigating the case.
27/11/2023 – A police chase on Avenida Pastor Martin Luther King, in the Colégio neighborhood, North Zone, left three criminals injured and one dead. The car in which the criminals were traveling was shot at least 28 times. According to the police, officers surrounded the vehicle and, during the approach, were attacked. A rifle, revolver, grenades, and radio transmitters were seized from the criminals.
27/11/2023 – Two people were shot on the sidewalk of the Harvey Ribeiro de Souza Filho Municipal Health Center, in Terreirão neighborhood, West Zone. The Military Police reported that the Recreio dos Bandeirantes Battalion went to the location and is investigating the case.
28/11/2023 – The Civil Police are investigating the death of a man attacked with a piece of wood in Anchieta, North Zone. According to the family, it was because of a fight between neighbors. Roberto da Silva Santos, 54 years old, was taken to the emergency room but did not survive his injuries. According to family members, Roberto was beaten with a piece of wood by his neighbor after a disagreement.
28/11/2023 – Two National Force officers, in a vehicle, mistakenly entered Rua Fernando Lobo, in Guadalupe, close to the Community of Chapadão, North Zone. They were approached by local drug dealers, had their weapons stolen and were released. According to the Military Police, an emergency operation was organized to recover the two pistols that were with the agents.
28/11/2023 – A National Force officer was shot and killed at the door of the house where he was living in Vila Valqueire, West Zone. Soldier Edmar Felipe Alves dos Santos was 36 years old and came from Alagoas. Edmar was surprised when he came out of the gate, armed, after hearing gunshots in a neighboring residence, on Rua Mário Barbedo. The criminal, identified as Eduardo Santa Rita Carvalho, aged 24, was fleeing after shooting his partner, and shot Edmar twice, hitting him in the head.
30/11/2023 – The Civil Police carried out, together with the Goiás Anti-Kidnapping Group, an operation against kidnappers from Goiânia who were hiding in Morro dos Prazeres, Santa Teresa favela, downtown Rio. Three men were killed. The main target of the offensive fled. If added, the dead accumulated more than thirty criminal records. The Special Resources Coordination (Core), an elite force of the Civil Police, and the Undersecretariat of Intelligence discovered that the criminals were hiding in a house in Fallet and launched the operation.
