RIO DE JANEIRO SECURITY INCIDENTS – 1st BULLETIN OF JULY

The number of cable thefts from SuperVia trains has almost tripled this year compared to the same period in 2021. The concessionaire recorded more than 900 thefts, an average of five per day. A total of more than 56 kilometers of cables stolen by criminals. The thefts occur mainly on the Santa Cruz, Japeri and Saracuruna lines. This forces SuperVia to adopt emergency measures such as temporary interruptions in the circulation of trains, an increase in travel intervals and an increase in the spacing between trains, which increases travel time due to impaired signaling.
