16/04/2025 – A couple is under investigation for carrying out the so-called “trap scam” at ATMs in Santos. On Wednesday (16), and Thursday (17), two victims were targeted in the Vila Mathias neighborhood. The suspects used a device to trap bank cards in the machines, then posed as helpful bystanders to convince the victims to call a fake bank number. During the call, a second scammer obtained banking information while the real card was discreetly swapped and stolen. At least R$ 400 was withdrawn in one of the incidents. Police are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspects.

17/04/2025 – On Thursday (17), a man was arrested in Ponta da Praia for allegedly raping a woman on Castelo Branco Beach in Ilha Comprida during Carnival. Identified through security footage linking him to thefts the same day, he was found working for a catering service and detained before a private event. Already on parole for a 2009 robbery-homicide, he now faces charges of rape and aggravated theft and will return to prison under a closed regime.
21/04/2025 – A thief broke into a house on Rua Oswaldo Cruz, in the Boqueirão neighborhood, on Monday afternoon (21). Caught on security cameras, the suspect first attempted to steal a bicycle but ultimately fled with a pair of sneakers. He has not yet been identified, and the incident was registered as theft with the Central Police Station (CPJ).
22/04/2025 – Two teenagers attempted to steal a cellphone from inside a car parked along Avenida Bartolomeu de Gusmão, on the Embaré beachfront, on Tuesday evening (22). The attempted theft occurred when the suspects approached the vehicle and reached for the phone. Residents noticed the incident and pursued them. Municipal Guards on patrol intervened and detained the two adolescents. Both were taken to the juvenile police station and released to their legal guardians. The case was registered as an infraction equivalent to attempted theft.
22/04/2025 – A gang broke into a self-storage warehouse in Paquetá in the early hours of Tuesday (22). In just 20 minutes, six individuals forced open at least 26 storage units and office spaces, stealing tools, safety equipment, and electronics. The estimated loss exceeds R$20,000. The theft occurred without confrontation, as no staff were present. The case has been registered as aggravated theft and is under investigation.
