01/10/2024 – Three criminals broke into a luxury condominium on Castro Alves Street, in the Embaré neighborhood, on Tuesday (1). The target was the apartment of the Santos FC goalkeeper, but they broke into the neighbor’s house and took six residents as hostages for more than four hours. According to the police, the doorman is a co-perpetrator of the crime. One of the bandits was injured during the police action. All were arrested. The victims were released unharmed.

03/10/2024 – A man died after being shot during an exchange of fire on the border between Santos and São Vicente on Thursday (3). The shooting took place on Euclides de Campos Street, in the José Menino neighborhood, near the tunnel. The confrontation involved drug traffickers and military police.
03/10/2024 – A member of a criminal faction that operated with drug trafficking in the West Zone of São Paulo was arrested by a Military Police patrol on Thursday (3) in Vila Matias. The criminal was a fugitive from justice. He was sentenced to more than 40 years in prison for crimes such as robbery, drug trafficking, and theft.
03/10/2024 – The Civil Police arrested a 41-year-old man in downtown Santos on Thursday night (3), accused of drug trafficking. He was transporting 216 Kg of marijuana in his truck. The drugs were hidden inside packages with cellulose. Santos’ port is an important logistics hub and the most relevant way to move drugs from Brazil to Europe and Africa. It is constantly used for this purpose by the PCC and European mafias.
07/10/2024 – A 26-year-old man was arrested after stealing a 25-year-old woman’s cell phone at a bus stop on Avenida Presidente Wilson, in the Pompéia neighborhood of Santos. In the images released, it is possible to see the suspect taking the cell phone from the victim’s hands and fleeing on a bicycle.
08/10/2024 – A 39-year-old man sexually harassed and molested a 24-year-old woman on Tuesday afternoon (08/10) in the parking lot of a gym in the Embaré neighborhood of Santos. According to the victim, the harasser touched her and then began to masturbate. The incident occurred on the corner of Frei Francisco Sampaio and Almirante Cochrane streets around 17:30. The victim reported that she was going to train when the crime occurred. Despite this, the man was restrained by people who watched the scene.
14/10/2024 – Two men, aged 35 and 44, were arrested for international drug trafficking after almost 800 kg of cocaine were found in a terminal at the Port of Santos. The drug was hidden in a container with coffee that was headed to Turkey. According to the Federal Police, the agents reached the suspects after an investigation.
14/10/2024 – A store was robbed twice in two months in downtown Santos. According to the owner of the store, the loss to the establishment is approximately R$230,000. According to the police report, the store was robbed at around 4:50 on Monday (14/10). When she arrived at the store for work, she found the place destroyed. Laptops, cell phones, a microwave, a printer, a water cooler, tools for renovations, and R$3,500 in wiring were taken. The first robbery took place on 8 August.
18/10/2024 – A 52-year-old man drove his car into a traffic guard who was fining him for stopping the vehicle in an irregular place on Rua Pedro Américo, in the Campo Grande neighborhood on Friday (18/10). The agent was taken to a hospital along with a colleague, who was punched by the suspect. The man was arrested.
21/10/2024 – More than a ton of cocaine was seized by the Federal Revenue Service at the Port of Santos, on Monday morning (21/10). The drug was hidden in a cargo of scrap metal that was to be transported to the Port of Malaga, in Spain. As found, it was the largest drug seizure this year so far.
22/10/2024 – A 27-year-old trans woman was found dead on Tuesday night (22/10) in a motel room on Avenida Rangel Pestana, in Vila Mathias. After an investigation, the civil police arrested a 45-year-old pastor. In a statement, he revealed that he had fought with the victim on the spot when he discovered that the victim was a trans woman.
25/10/2024 – A criminal shot a dentist during an attempted robbery on Avenida Senador Pinheiro Machado, in the Vila Mathias neighborhood, on Friday night (25/10). According to the Civil Police, the 33-year-old man tried to help restrain the 18-year-old thief, who stole a lawyer’s cell phone.
28/10/2024 – A gang formed by a 43-year-old man and two women, aged 25 and 35, was arrested for theft on Monday afternoon (28/10), in the Gonzaga neighborhood. With the criminals, products from seven stores were found, which together are worth just over R$ 8,100.00.
29/10/2024 – Two suspects died after getting into a confrontation with military police on Tuesday afternoon (29/10), in the São Bento hill. According to the Public Security Secretariat, PMs were carrying out a raid on the site when they saw the two armed criminals and there was a confrontation.
30/10/2024 – A 29-year-old man assaulted his 38-year-old pregnant wife on Avenida Washington Luís, in the Encruzilhada neighborhood, on Wednesday (30/10). A patrol of the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) was approached by a resident who said he had witnessed the aggression. According to the witness’s account, the suspect attacked his wife with a punch in the nose. The man was found and arrested.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponto da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo and others.
- The waterfront has many incidents of opportunistic thefts, never display wealth and avoid walks there during the night.
- Residences in the of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves. Make sure your building is well protected.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, mobile phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and that negotiation may be lengthy.
