SÃO PAULO SECURITY INCIDENTS – DECEMBER MONTHLY BULLETIN

Between June and November 2025, the SP Mobile program recovered 15,900 cell phones and returned over 5,400 to their owners across the state of São Paulo. According to the Public Security Secretariat, the initiative uses IMEI tracking and operator data to locate stolen devices, contributing to a 5% drop in mobile thefts. Authorities emphasize that victims must include their IMEI number in police reports to facilitate the return of their property. This strategy aims to dismantle the illicit resale market by identifying flagged devices as soon as they are reactivated.

01/12/2025 – A man (28) was arrested in São Paulo on Monday (1st), for receiving money stolen during an express kidnapping in Campinas. The crime occurred on May 7, 2025, near the Hospital Ouro Verde, when two medical students were held at gunpoint. The victims were forced to give up passwords for PIX transfers, resulting in a loss of over R$ 5,400. Police followed the money trail to identify and arrest the man, and are seeking two other suspects.
