01/04/2023 – A 16-year-old teenager was hit by several shots and couldn’t resist his injuries. The case took place on Friday afternoon (31), in Santo André, Vitória. According to witness reports, the victim, whose identity has not been revealed, was talking to friends when a vehicle approached the scene.
15/04/2023 – A 37-year-old woman was stabbed to death in the Maria Ortiz neighborhood of Vitória. According to the police, the main suspect of having committed the crime is the victim’s stepson, a teenager of just 13 years old.
16/04/2023 – A man was shot dead while he was at a concert hall in Vitória, early on Sunday (16). At the same location, a woman was shot in the leg. It is suspected that a military police officer was responsible for the shooting.
17/04/2023 – A musician, identified as Guilherme Rocha, 37, was killed after arguing with a neighbor, a soldier of the Military Police, inside a condominium, located in Jardim Camburi, in Vitória. The action was recorded in the early hours of Monday (17).
19/04/2023 – A man was shot after exchanging fire with the Military Police at Morro da Floresta, in Vitória, on Tuesday night (18). The PM’s Tactical Force had to be called, because criminals were walking freely with weapons in the streets of the neighborhood.
23/04/2023 – A man was shot dead on Sunday morning (23) in the Bela Vista neighborhood of Vitória. A gun was found by the police around the waist of the victim, identified as 30-year-old Ytalo Samora.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- During summer months, petty crimes rise on the city waterfront. The Praia do Canto is particularly targeted by criminals.
- Crowded beaches and its vicinities should be avoided.
- Robberies and thefts against pedestrians are among the city’s major risks, the Centro (downtown), Jardim da Penha, Jardim Camburi, and Enseada do Sua concentrate the highest number of incidents.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as he or she might not be alone or turn violent.
- Violent drug trafficking gangs are present in the city. People must never access areas controlled by them, such as Bonfim, São Bento, Da Penha.
- In the case of being in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move unless you are sure that the gunfire has ended.
- Avoid walking alone in poorly lit areas or beaches after nightfall. Avoid walking through tunnels.
- Be always cautious, even in the areas considered safe.
- Exercise caution in the Centro during the day and avoid the area after nightfall and during the weekends.
