The city of São Paulo had on average 17 suspected drug traffickers arrested or apprehended per day during the first half of the year. In absolute numbers, security forces detained 3,100 men and women, both in flagrante delicto (2,945) and through judicial warrants (166) in the period. The number of arrests of those involved in trafficking is also reflected in the number of drug seizures: more than 20.7 tons were collected and destroyed in the first six months of this year, including crack, cocaine, marijuana, hashish, and other illicit substances.

09/08/2024 – An exchange of fire between agents of the Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (ROTA) and robbers left at least three suspects dead on the morning of Friday (9) in Alto de Pinheiros, an upscale neighborhood in the West Zone of São Paulo. Another accomplice of the gang, who was not injured in the shooting, was arrested by the police. Four weapons that were with the bandits were seized. According to police officers, they were patrolling the region when they received a tip that an armed gang intended to rob a nearby residence. Arriving near the scene, the PMs said that four criminals shot at the agents, who retaliated.
11/08/2024 – An off-duty military police officer shot and killed a 21-year-old man who was trying to rob passengers in a car in Jabaquara, South Zone of São Paulo, last Saturday afternoon (10). A security camera on Barrania Street recorded the moment when the criminal arrived on a motorcycle and tried to rob passengers who were in a white car. The police officer who was at the scene saw the action and shot at least ten times at the suspect, who tried to flee.
13/08/2024 – A five-year-old boy died after falling from a building in the Sé region, on Monday (12). According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the child was rescued but did not resist his injuries. During a patrol in the region, municipal guards were called by two women, who had the injured child in their arms. The case was registered as a suspicious death and is being investigated.
13/08/2024 – Operation Tashi Delek, carried out on Tuesday (13) by the Military Police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office of São Paulo, reached the top of a criminal faction that used fake websites to scam victims. According to the investigations, these online pages received, in six months, more than 137,000 hits and deceived people from all over Brazil. More than R$ 14,000 in cash, 21 cell phones, as well as USB sticks, computers, tablets, and jewelry were seized. Five suspects were arrested.
14/08/2024 – A garage used as a motorcycle dismantling was discovered by the Military Police on Wednesday (14) during routine policing in the Jardim Miriam neighborhood, on the border between Diadema and São Paulo. At the site, there were stolen parts from vehicles. The PM team was patrolling the neighborhood when they noticed several motorcycle parts inside a garage, appearing to be dismantled. A man who was at the scene was approached by the police. According to the PM, the suspect bought the stolen motorcycles, dismantled them, and sold the parts over the internet. The suspect was arrested.
15/08/2024 – The Public Prosecutor’s Office of São Paulo indicted on Thursday (15) two metropolitan civil guards of the city of São Paulo and two other former agents on suspicion of participating in a militia that operated in the region of Cracolândia, in the center of São Paulo. The former agents and guards are accused by the Special Action Group to Combat Organized Crime (GAECO/Núcleo Capital) of forming a private militia to commit concussion crimes against merchants in the central region of the city. Through the investigations, prosecutors discovered that the guards received money from the merchants through deposits in their accounts or those of relatives and third parties.
15/08/2024 – The Federal Police carried out on Thursday (15) morning in São Paulo an operation to dismantle a criminal organization specializing in currency evasion and money laundering through cryptocurrencies. “Operation Aluir” is the third development of “Operation Colossus”, which in January 2024 revealed the existence of a billionaire scheme in which financial resources of criminal origin were the object of currency evasion and money laundering. In the operation on Thursday (15), the PF served five search and seizure warrants and two preventive arrest warrants against the main members of the criminal organization arrested in January. Two others investigated also had their preventive detention decreed but were not located. The Federal Court also decreed the freezing of assets and assets of those investigated.
15/08/2024 – The Civil Police arrested on Thursday (15) six members of a gang specializing in the theft of high-capacity motorcycles. The arrest took place in Itaquera, in the east of São Paulo. The targets were identified from investigations into attacks against motorcyclists. In addition to the motorcycles found at the addresses, helmets, accessories, and parts were collected.
