19/02/2026 – On Thursday (19), police officers from the 166th DP arrested a high-profile fugitive known as “Bracinho” in the center of Angra dos Reis as he returned from celebrating Carnival in Rio de Janeiro. The 22-year-old, who had been hiding in the Complexo da Penha, was monitored by intelligence sectors following a history of violent crimes, including a 2024 homicide linked to gang warfare in the Frade region. With 12 criminal records and two outstanding warrants for murder and criminal association, he is considered highly dangerous by authorities. His capture was part of “Operation Folia,” aimed at boosting security for residents and tourists during the holiday period.

20/02/2026 – On Friday (20), a 16-year-old was detained by the Military Police for drug trafficking in the Bracuí district. Officers were investigating a vehicle theft when they spotted four individuals fleeing; the minor was caught after attempting to discard a bag containing cocaine, crack, and over 600g of marijuana. The teenager was identified as a local dealer for the Comando Vermelho criminal organization.
21/02/2026 – On Saturday (21), a 15-year-old girl and her one-year-old baby were rescued by the Civil Police in Angra dos Reis after being held hostage by the teenager’s boyfriend. The rescue was initiated after the victim’s father reported to the Women’s Police Station (DEAM) that his daughter had been taken from Volta Redonda and was being held against her will. Intelligence officers located the family after they were reportedly expelled from a local community due to the suspect’s violent behavior toward the girl. The man was arrested in flagrante and will face charges of bodily injury within the context of domestic violence under the Maria da Penha Law.
22/02/2026 – On Sunday (22), an operation by the Military Police led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man for drug trafficking in the Promorar neighborhood in Japuíba. Officers seized a significant amount of narcotics, including cocaine, crack, and cannabis, along with a communication radio. Two accomplices managed to flee.
24/02/2026 – On Tuesday (24), during the state-wide “Operation Espoliador,” Civil Police agents apprehended a 17-year-old in the Campo Belo neighborhood. The operation relied on the police dog Kira, who located a hidden stash in a vacant lot containing cocaine, crack, and specialized “marijuana kits” sold for up to R$ 200, which included lighters and grinders. The minor, who acted as a lookout for the Comando Vermelho, had been previously detained for similar offenses only six months prior.
26/02/2026 – On Thursday (26), a police operation in the Frade neighborhood led to the dismantling of a drug distribution point following an anonymous tip. Military Police seized 177 vials of cocaine, nearly 1,000 packaging labels, and cash at a residence on Rua Cunhambebe.
