MACAÉ SECURITY INCIDENTS – MAY MONTHLY BULLETIN

10/05/2026 – On Saturday morning (10), a man was shot dead in the middle of a public street, near the Fish Market, in the center of Macaé. According to information from Segurança Presente, the crime occurred after a disagreement between work colleagues from an ice company in the region. The perpetrator of the shooting was identified, but fled immediately after the crime. The 123rd DP is investigating the case with the support of security cameras. Searches continue in an attempt to locate the suspect.

11/05/2026 – A man accused of robbery was arrested last Monday afternoon (11), in Largomar neighborhood. Civil and Military police participated in the action. The robbery took place around 13h in the Ajuda neighborhood, the victim had left his son on a school bus when he was surprised by the criminal. Armed and under strong threat, the robber took the motorcycle – a Honda CG 160 Titan – and cell phone during the attack.

13/05/2026 – A man was arrested selling drugs last Wednesday afternoon (13) in the Bela Vista neighborhood, in Macaé. He was found during monitoring carried out by civil police officers from the 123rd DP. The agents also found a bag with marijuana bushes already prepared for sale.

14/05/2026 – A woman suffered an attempted robbery last Thursday (14) in Centro neighborhood. According to information, the incident happened around 17:50 inside the Central Terminal. When approached by a man and realizing that it was a robbery, the victim started screaming and ended up attracting the attention of other people who were at the scene. The criminal was restrained and attacked by other people who were in the Terminal. However, after the attacks, he freed himself from the attackers and managed to run away towards the street. On social media, other people reported having witnessed situations like this on other days. Even with the installation of security cameras, cases like this continue to happen. No one was arrested at the time of this release.

15/05/2026 – Two men were caught selling drugs in Aroeira neighborhood and ended up arrested. The action took place when civil police officers from the 123rd DP were monitoring a location known as “Escadinha”. The police seized bags of cocaine and a cell phone.

16/05/2026 – A fugitive from justice was arrested in the mountainous region of Macaé last Saturday (16). The criminal has four police records for drug trafficking and had an open recapture warrant. He was located by military police officers from the 32nd BPM in Glicério. According to the agents, the previous criminal records were for drug trafficking, association for drug trafficking, and criminal organization.

19/05/2026 – On Tuesday afternoon (19), a woman who was a victim of severe domestic violence and stalking was rescued by the Civil Police in the Lagomar neighborhood. Acting on intelligence from the Specialized Women’s Support Police Station (DEAM) in Niterói, officers located the victim at a property where she had been held under constant surveillance and threatened for nearly two months. Her partner had shattered her cell phone to cut off communication with her family and prevent her from fleeing back to Niterói with her children. Following assistance from local residents who recognized her photo, police successfully rescued the woman and arrested the aggressor.

20/05/2026 – On Wednesday (20), a high-ranking regional leader of the Comando Vermelho (CV) criminal faction was arrested during a joint operation by the Rio de Janeiro and Rio Grande do Norte Civil Police in Macaé. The suspect, known for managing the group’s armed branch, was heavily involved in territorial wars against a rival syndicate, leading to numerous executions and an escalation of violence. Wanted on active warrants for armed criminal organization, his criminal record also includes drug trafficking, robbery, and homicide. Authorities considered him highly dangerous due to his active role in weapons maintenance and mercenary recruitment.

22/05/2026 – On Friday (22), a Military Police operation in Favela da Linha led to the arrest of an adult and the apprehension of a teenager for drug trafficking. Upon noticing the police entering the community, the two suspects attempted to flee, one on a motorcycle and the other by dropping narcotics and jumping over a wall. Officers quickly caught both individuals and, after searching the perimeter, seized 306g of cocaine, 66g of crack, 24g of marijuana, two cell phones, and R$ 418.00 in cash.

24/05/2026 – On Sunday (24), a 31-year-old man was arrested for torturing his 10-year-old stepson in the Sol e Mar neighborhood. The Civil Police investigation revealed a brutal routine of abuse where the child was beaten with iron bars and wooden sticks, and in one extreme episode, locked inside a freezer. Backed by a preventative arrest warrant issued by Macaé’s Domestic Violence Court, officers successfully located and detained the suspect in the São José do Barreto neighborhood.

24/05/2026 – In the early hours of Sunday (24), a man was arrested red-handed after punching his partner in the face directly in front of the 123rd Police Precinct. The altercation began during a party at the Clube Fluminense, where the suspect publicly insulted and threatened the woman. Seeking protection, the victim walked toward the police station but was struck right outside the entrance, prompting on-duty officers to immediately intervene and detain the attacker.

26/05/2026 – On Tuesday night (26), the Military Police carried out an anti-drug trafficking operation in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood, resulting in the arrest of one adult suspect and the detention of a minor. During the raid, officers seized 38 capsules of cocaine, 40 units of skank, and bottles of poppers. Additionally, the police recovered a homemade grenade, ammunition, magazines, precision scales, and replicas of both a rifle and a pistol, dealing a significant blow to local organized crime.

27/05/2026 – On Wednesday (27), the newly opened Qualifica+Macaé professional training center in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood was forced to suspend classes due to a major theft. Criminals stripped the facility of its entire electrical wiring and the copper piping from the air conditioning units, leaving the building without power during its very first week of operations. Strongly condemned in the City Council, this act of vandalism has paralyzed the social project while emergency repairs are underway.

27/05/2026 – On Wednesday (27), military police officers from the 32nd BPM arrested a fugitive wanted for murder during a routine patrol in the Parque Aeroporto neighborhood. The suspect attempted to flee on a motorcycle upon noticing the police presence but was quickly intercepted and detained. While only cash and a cell phone were found in his possession, a background check revealed two active arrest warrants for murder issued by the Rio de Janeiro State Judiciary.

• After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista, Cavaleiros, Glória and the central area.
• As risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas due to gang presence,
• avoid: Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda de Baixo, Morro de Santana, Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Fronteira, Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto, and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros).
• When going to and leaving Vale Encantado, never walk, call a licensed taxi, or use a company-approved ride-sharing App.
• In any situation, avoid waiting on the sidewalk. If you call a taxi, for instance, wait inside a building and only leave when the car arrives.
• Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
• Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
• Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
