07/07/2026 – On Tuesday night (7), a suspected arson attack destroyed two utility vehicles belonging to a glass workshop on Rua Joaquim Távora in the Vila Belmiro neighborhood. 16/07/2026 – On Thursday (16), Civil Police arrested a 21-year-old man, caught on CCTV hiding a cell phone under a sink to secretly record women in a commercial building’s restroom. The suspect confessed to his voyeuristic impulses but blamed medication-induced memory lapses for the specific incident. Following search warrants executed on July 14, detectives from the 3rd DP seized computers, his phone, and four replica firearms.
16/07/2026 – On Thursday (16), over 160 Military Police officers from the Shock Policing Command launched a major security deployment across Santos, São Vicente, and Guarujá in the Baixada Santista region. 27/07/2026 – On Monday (27), 2026, a 32-year-old woman died after a car carrying five occupants veered off the road and plunged into a Sabesp excavation pit in the Alemoa neighborhood. The fatal crash occurred around 2:20 on Avenida Martins Fontes following a jealousy-fueled argument inside the vehicle, during which a 22-year-old female passenger yanked the steering wheel, sending the automobile into the construction site. Identified through public surveillance cameras, the teenager filmed himself stealing gold jewelry from victims and posted images displaying stolen goods and cash on social media. Municipal guard officers intercepted the suspect on the beach promenade and transferred him to the Civil Police.
29/07/2026 – On Wednesday morning (29), three armed suspects invaded a home located on Rua Repúbica Argentina, 29, in the Pompéia neighborhood after ambushing a domestic worker around 6:00. The perpetrators held the three-member family inside hostage, forced them to make financial transfers via smartphone, and stole the family’s car to flee the scene. The Military Police responded to the call around 8:40 and confirmed that no physical injuries were reported, while law enforcement operations remain ongoing to track down the suspects.
29/07/2026 – A man was stabbed by his daughter during a violent domestic dispute on Wednesday (29), on Avenida Martins Fontes in the Saboó neighborhood. The suspect intervened using a knife after her father drew a machete and advanced toward a relative, leaving him with multiple stab wounds and his wife with a hand injury before both victims were rushed to Santa Casa de Santos. Responding military police officers seized two knives at the scene, and the 5th Police District registered the case as attempted homicide committed in self-defense, releasing the woman without charges while forensic examinations were ordered.
30/07/2026 – A man committed an unusual act of public property vandalism and wire theft on Thursday (30), in the Valongo neighborhood, where he climbed a utility pole wielding a machete to cut power cables. A passing driver filmed the suspect as he repeatedly scaled the pole, severed the wiring, and left it lying across the road. The Municipal Guard (GCM) responded to the scene following resident reports, but the suspect had already fled.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponta da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown, and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo, and others, since they are gang-controlled zones where shootouts occur frequently.
- Avoid passing near the VLT tunnel, in José Menino, as many drug users and homeless people stay there, especially next to the walls of the Clube dos Ingleses.
- The waterfront has many incidents of thefts and robberies (snatch and run), never display wealth, and avoid walking there during the night.
- During the Summer, risks increase, due to the bigger number of beachgoers.
- Residences in the neighborhoods of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário, and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves who look for bikes and items in the common areas.
- Make sure your building is well protected, with a 24/7 doorperson.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant, as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and nowadays they tend to be quick and focused on forcing the victims to transfer money using their cell phones.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
