Background
Bolsonaro announced the demonstration on 16 February, after the Federal Police (PF) launched the Tempus Veritatis Operation, which investigates the existence of a criminal organization that would have worked to carry out an attempted coup d’état, seeking to maintain the then President of the Republic in power.
The Former President asked his supporters to gather exclusively on Avenida Paulista.
Participants
According to the Public Security Secretariat (SSP), around 750,000 people attended the scene. A projection made by the University of São Paulo (USP) estimated that 185 thousand would be present. The Military Police informed that it did not prepare the estimate disclosed by the SSP.
