Other prisoners
At least two other inmates were also transferred from Mossoró to Catanduvas: Railan Silva dos Santos and Selmir da Silva Almeida. The two are from Acre and arrived at the Mossoró Penitentiary together with Deibson Nascimento and Rogério Mendonça, who escaped on 14 February.
In total, 23 prisoners were transferred last Saturday (02/03) from Mossoró to the other four federal penitentiaries. Initially, 24 prisoners would be transferred. However, a judge in Mossoró suspended the transfer of one of them.
Transferred from Campo Grande
Beira-Mar had arrived at the Mossoró Penitentiary this year, when he was transferred from Campo Grande, on 13 January. On that occasion, Marcinho VP took the opposite route, leaving Mossoró and going to Campo Grande, in a measure taken by the Federal Penal Police for security reasons.
Prisoner Rotation
In a statement, the Internal Affairs Department of the Federal Penitentiary of Mossoró stated that the rotation of inmates between the penitentiaries of the Federal Penitentiary System is a routine strategy and occurred at the request of the director of the Federal Penitentiary System.
Prison Escape in Mossoró
The escape of Deibson Nascimento and Rogério Mendonça from the Mossoró Federal Penitentiary on the 14th was the first to be recorded in the history of the federal prison system, which was created in 2006.
The search for the two fugitives remains concentrated in the rural area and Baraúna, which borders Ceará. The municipalities are connected by RN-015, where the prison is located. The recapture operation involves more than 600 security agents, who work in an integrated manner. They are federal police officers, federal highway patrol officers, military and civilian personnel, as well as the National Force.
