02/08/2024 – A 58-year-old man, suspected of raping his daughter, was arrested on Friday (2) by the civil police in the Japuíba neighborhood. According to the Specialized Police Station for Women’s Assistance (DEAM), the abuses happened four years ago, when the girl was three years old.

03/08/2024 – A shopkeeper suffered attempted murder on Saturday night (3), with six shots inside a bar, located in the Camorim Grande neighborhood. The police reported that they continue to search to find those involved in the attempted murder. There is no official information about the motive for the attack since according to the police there was no theft at the bar. No suspects were arrested.
04/08/2024 – Agents of the Reserved Service (P2), of the 33rd BPM received a complaint of drug trafficking, on Rua Bela Vista, in the Banqueta neighborhood. Around 23:30, on Sunday (04), police went to check the information. At the indicated place, at the entrance of the neighborhood, they found two young people, one 20 and the other 22 years old. With the 20-year-old, agents said they found 30 pins of cocaine, 300 reais in cash, and a cell phone. With the other, 22 years old, they found 52 powder pins and a cell phone.
06/08/2024 – Agents of the Tactical Actions Group (GAT) of the 33rd BPM approached Morro da Caixa D’Água, in the city center, on Tuesday (6). In the action, the agents arrested a criminal and seized drugs and material from trafficking. 253 cocaine pins, 116 marijuana strips, 84 crack rocks, three radio transmitters, and a cell phone were seized.
07/08/2024 – The former Secretary of Administration of the city of Mangaratiba, Braz Marcos da Silva Marques, was arrested on Wednesday (7) in Angra dos Reis during an operation by the Support Group for Prosecutors of the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (GAP/MPRJ). Accused of the crimes of domestic violence and rape of a vulnerable person, he had been on the run for more than 5 months.
11/08/2024 – A man was arrested on Sunday (11) night, on Paulo Sodré Magno Street, in Frade. Agents of the 33rd BPM received information that he was selling drugs on this street. With the description of the possible criminal in hand, they went to the scene and soon spotted the man. During the personal search, 4 pins of cocaine and 40 reais in cash were found with him. He also had an open arrest warrant issued by the Court of Justice of the State of Paraíba for the crime of drug trafficking.
13/08/2024 – The Federal Police seized five vessels and served eight search and seizure warrants, during Operation Ghost Fleet to combat fishing and commercialization of shrimp, on Tuesday (13) morning, in Angra dos Reis. The species is in the Closed season. The objective of the operation is to combat the actions of criminals, who operate on the state’s green coast, in addition to identifying the illicit practices of fishermen and traders, who at this time of the Closed Season act irregularly.
13/08/2024 – Agents of the 33rd BPM carried out a drug seizure operation in Camorim Grande, on Tuesday (13). According to the occurrence record at the 166th DP, 67 cocaine pins, 29 strips of marijuana, and ten bottles of ether, in addition to a cell phone were confiscated. After being caught, two people were detained.
14/08/2024 – On Wednesday (14), around 15:00, Civil Police officers assigned to the Specialized Police Station for Assistance to Women of Angra dos Reis (DEAM) served a preventive arrest warrant against an indigenous man from the Sapukai Village (Bracuí) for the crime of rape. The DEAM reported that there was already another police procedure against the Indigenous man for the crime of rape of a vulnerable person against two minors from the Sapukai tribe. According to the agents, the criminal was captured in the city center.
17/08/2024 – Police officers from the Tactical Actions Group (GAT) of the 33rd BPM arrested a drug dealer and seized drugs in Bracuí. The action took place on Saturday (17). In addition to the prisoner, the police seized 34 wrappers of cocaine, two bundles of marijuana, and 130 reais in cash.
19/08/2024 – Agents of the 33rd BPM, on routine patrol in Morro do Santo Antônio, in the city center, dominated by the Red Command (CV), arrested an individual for drug trafficking on Monday (19). According to the police, he had 134 cocaine pins, 32 bundles of marijuana, 29 crack rocks, a cell phone, and 84 reais in cash.
21/08/2024 – A suspect was arrested in Vila Nova, near the airport, late last Tuesday night (21). He was spotted by agents of the 33rd BPM on the Angra-Getulândia Road, near the airport, where traffickers from the Red Command (CV) usually operate a drug shop whose leader is known as “Oitão”. According to the agents, he had a plastic bag in his hands and tried to flee but was caught up by the authorities. The police reported that inside the bag there were 23 pins of cocaine.
26/08/2024 – Agents of the Tactical Actions Group (GAT) of the 33rd BPM, were on routine patrol in Morro da Glória, on Monday (26), when they spotted several traffickers selling drugs in a smoke shop. The criminals opened fire on the police, and the officers shot back. At the end of the confrontation, the police found an injured man lying on the ground. In addition to a Glock 9 mm pistol, which according to the agents was with the man who died, 401 cocaine pins, 259 bundles of marijuana, 113 crack rocks, 67 bottles of ether, 35 skank wrappers, and a radio communicator were seized in the action.
26/08/2024 – On the afternoon of Monday (26), the agents of the 166th DP received information that there were armed drug traffickers on the way up Rua dos Cajueiros, near the place known as “Buracão”, in Morro do Peres, in the central region of the city. A team went to the scene and, as they approached the address, spotted four elements. Two of them were armed with pistols, one with a backpack and the other with a communication radio. Upon seeing the police, they started shooting. In the backpack, there were 152 crack rocks, 81 bundles of marijuana, 252 cocaine pins, and three transportation voucher cards, one of them with the name of Gabriel Raimundo. One armed man died the other was arrested, and the two other accomplices fled at the beginning of the shooting.
28/08/2024 – An operation by civil police officers stationed at the 166th Precinct, in Casinhas do Bracuí, ended with the arrest of two individuals on Wednesday night (28). The agents were informed that drug traffickers were operating a smoke shop at the end of Avenida das Acácias and went to the scene. When the police arrived at the corner of Travessa Bem-Me-Quer and Avenida das Acácias, they saw five elements. Upon noticing the approach of the police, the three fled. The two who remained, one of them with a backpack, tried to flee on a motorcycle but the agents managed to stop them. The motorcycle was without a license plate, and in the backpack were found 100 pins of cocaine, 30 packages of marijuana, four packages of hashish, and 12 of crack.
28/08/2024 – Agents of the Tactical Actions Group (GAT) of the 33rd BPM in an approach in Parque Mambucaba on Wednesday (28), arrested three traffickers with marijuana and cocaine. The trio, according to the police, had 136 pins of cocaine, 48 bundles of marijuana, 200 reais in cash, and a cell phone.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered almost every month.
- In the case you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- Lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from windows, do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- If your are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Downtown, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts and robberies.
- After nightfall, avoid circulating on the BR-101, due to the increased risk of robbery and assault.
