01/06/2025 – On Sunday (01/06), São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul Civil Police seized 7.2 tons of marijuana hidden in a soybean shipment bound for the Port of Santos. The drug, originating from the Brazil-Paraguay border, was found in a truck intercepted in Rosana (a city in the far west of São Paulo state, near the border with Mato Grosso do Sul) during a joint operation. A second vehicle acting as a scout was also stopped. Two men, aged 44 and 26, were arrested.
02/06/2025 – In the early hours of Monday (02/06), a man was arrested in the Vila Mathias neighborhood after throwing a rock at a parked car on Avenida Conselheiro Nébias and kicking in the door of a nearby convenience store. A municipal patrol caught him in the act of vandalism and found a suspicious crate of tea in his possession. A store security guard later identified him as the same person who had previously broken into the shop, threatened a staff member with a rock, and stolen goods.

03/06/2025 – A 22-year-old man was shot and killed by military police on Tuesday (03/06), in the Morro da Nova Cintra neighborhood, after pointing a firearm at officers during an attempted escape. He was riding on the back of a motorcycle that fled at a police stop. The 26-year-old driver. Police seized the firearms and the motorcycle.
06/06/2025 – On Friday afternoon (06/06), gunshots were reported on Avenida Conselheiro Nébias in the Campo Grande neighborhood. Military police responded to the call and used surveillance cameras and the Muralha monitoring system to identify a suspect. He was found inside a parked vehicle on Rua Dagoberto Gasgon, in possession of a .380-caliber pistol. After admitting to firing the shots, he was taken to the Santos Police Station.
08/06/2025 – On Sunday (08/06), a shootout broke out between police officers and armed suspects in the Rádio Clube neighborhood, after two individuals opened fire during a patrol operation. Moments earlier, a BAEP unit had approached five suspects, two of whom were visibly armed. One man was arrested while trying to flee with three bags filled with drugs. The others ran toward the Caminho da Capela area, crossing into São Vicente. Two were detained, one escaped, and another was shot.
08/06/2025 – A series of muggings along the beachfront of Santos on Sunday (08/06), ended with the arrest of a man in the Boqueirão neighborhood. He used a replica firearm to rob multiple victims of their phones before fleeing. Alerted by one of the victims and bystanders, police intercepted him on Rua Dr. Porchat de Assis. The stolen phones were recovered along the route he had taken. He was arrested.
09/06/2025 – On Monday (09/06), a 38-year-old man was detained in the Areia Branca neighborhood for performing illegal dental procedures inside a tattoo studio located on Rua Professor Francisco de Domênico. The studio operated without authorization and was the target of a complaint by the Regional Dentistry Council (CRO). Police seized dental materials, promotional flyers, and a mobile phone on site.
09/06/2025 – A 26-year-old woman was assaulted by her partner inside their home in the Paquetá neighborhood, on Monday morning (09/06). She had approached a municipal guard patrol for help retrieving her belongings after leaving the residence but was attacked when she tried to enter. The victim suffered injuries to her arms and body. The 32-year-old aggressor was arrested at the scene.
10/06/2025 – On Tuesday (10/06), Brazil’s Federal Revenue Service seized 1.5 tons of cocaine at the Port of Santos, the largest such seizure at the port in the past four years. The drug was concealed within a shipment of 184 tons of paper, spread across nine containers, and was bound for the United Kingdom, with a planned stopover in Bremerhaven, Germany. The cocaine had replaced A4 paper bundles in one of the containers. The interception was the result of intelligence work and routine inspection, with assistance from a sniffer dog.
10/06/2025 – A man wanted for the rape of a vulnerable person was arrested on Tuesday night (10/06), in the Morro São Bento neighborhood. He tried to evade a police patrol by hiding in a bar but was stopped and identified. The 57-year-old had a valid arrest warrant with a sentence of 16 years and four months to serve.
13/06/2025 – On Friday (13/06), in the Encruzilhada and Ponta da Praia neighborhoods, a man committed at least three street robberies, targeting women wearing gold rings. In one case, he pretended to be armed and threatened a woman walking her dog; in another, he robbed a woman accompanied by a child. Surveillance footage shows him fleeing each scene with an accomplice on a motorcycle. The stolen rings were later recovered.
15/06/2025 – In the early hours of Sunday (15/06), two men were arrested for drug trafficking in the Marapé neighborhood during a Military Police patrol. Officers spotted the suspects in a known drug-dealing area and found them carrying radios used to monitor police movement. A backpack containing various pre-packaged drugs ready for sale was seized. Cash was also confiscated during the operation.
18/06/2025 – On Wednesday (18/06), in the Embaré neighborhood, a woman pushing a baby stroller was robbed in front of a preschool. Surveillance footage shows a man riding by on a bicycle, snatching a chain from her neck, and fleeing. The theft occurred as she waited at the school gate after ringing the bell.
19/06/2025 – On Thursday (19/06), police dismantled a drug delivery network operating in Santos with the arrest of a 32-year-old lawyer and two deliverymen in the Boqueirão neighborhood. The group used motorcycles to distribute drugs to wealthy areas, with the lawyer acting as financial manager and logistics coordinator. The investigation began after her brother was arrested on 27 May, and his phone revealed the gang’s operations. During the raid, officers seized packaged drugs, scales, delivery records, cell phones, and vehicles.
22/06/2025 – Six birds, including two hawks, two parrots, a parakeet, and a falcon, were stolen from the Orquidário Municipal de Santos, José Menino during the early hours of Sunday (22/06). The theft occurred in a restricted area of the facility’s veterinary hospital. According to the São Paulo Public Security Secretariat, evidence such as a glove and knife were found on site, and a report had previously noted teens photographing restricted areas.
23/06/2025 – A 30-year-old man was shot and arrested after exchanging gunfire with military police at dawn on Monday (23/06), in the Rádio Clube neighborhood. Identified as Jeam Ribeiro dos Santos Ferreira, he allegedly opened fire on officers while fleeing with two accomplices through a known drug trafficking area. Found in possession of a loaded firearm, 798 drug portions, and a radio transmitter, he was taken to a hospital under police custody.
24/06/2025 – Santos City Hall appointed, on Saturday (24/06), retired PM Lieutenant Colonel Flávio de Brito Junior as the city’s new Secretary of Security, replacing Daniel Onias, who held the role on an interim basis. Brito Junior previously commanded the city’s municipal guard and served as deputy secretary of security. He also worked as logistics director at the city’s traffic engineering company (CET) and has extensive police and tactical training, including SWAT and paratrooper qualifications.
30/06/2025 – A 28-year-old man was shot dead during a police shootout on June 30 in the Beco do Pneu area of Rádio Clube. He was wanted for involvement in the 2023 robbery-murder of a 24-year-old phone shop owner. During the confrontation, the suspects fired at police; the man was killed, and firearms and drugs were seized. Authorities confirmed he had two outstanding arrest warrants. The case was registered as a death from police intervention, attempted homicide, drug association, resistance, and weapons seizure.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponta da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown, and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo, and others, since they are gang-controlled zones where shootouts occur frequently.
- Avoid passing near the VLT tunnel, in José Menino, as many drug users and homeless people stay there, especially next to the walls of the Clube dos Ingleses.
- The waterfront has many incidents of thefts and robberies (snatch and run), never display wealth, and avoid walking there during the night.
- During the Summer, risks increase, due to the bigger number of beachgoers.
- Residences in the neighborhoods of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário, and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves who look for bikes and items in the common areas.
- Make sure your building is well protected, with a 24/7 doorperson.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant, as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and nowadays they tend to be quick and focused on forcing the victims to transfer money using their cell phones.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
