03/11/2023 – A woman was robbed while walking with a wheelchair user on the shore of Praia do Embaré. The woman was walking when a man passed by on a bicycle, ripped the chain from her neck and then fled with his accomplices. Five criminals involved in this, and two other holiday robberies were located and arrested by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) and the Military Police with the help of monitoring cameras from the Operational Control Center (CC).
03/11/2023 – A lottery house located in Bairro Marapé was robbed by criminals. The criminals stole around R$20,000. According to the Civil Police, the robbery occurred around 9:00. The victims reported that 20 minutes after the lottery opened, three men, two of whom were armed, entered the place, and took the money. They fled on two motorcycles.

04/11/2023 – A 43-year-old man was kidnapped in Praça Mauá, in downtown Santos, in front of City Hall. The victim said he was about to get into his car when he was surprised by two criminals, one of them armed. After surrendering, the criminals made him sit in the front passenger seat of the car. The criminals demanded passwords for the victim’s cell phone, banking applications and credit card. After 40 minutes, the victim was abandoned near the Santos Municipal Market.
11/11/2023 – A 36yo man has been stabbed in the Gonzaga beach. The man has been rescued by the police and the firemen. The victim has declared he did not know the bandit, nor the reason why he has been stabbed. The victim is still being healed in the hospital and his days are not in peril. The investigation is still in course.
22/11/2023 – A Police Officer on motorcycle was shot while chasing a suspect in Rádio Clube, West Santos. The cop was in a pursuit of another motorcycle when he lost the target in the streets. A few moments later, a shot was fired, and it hit the officer in the back. The bullet went through his body armour. He was rescued. The shooter has not been caught.
26/11/2023 – A luxury house has been robbed during daylight in Ponta da Praia, South Santos. The bandits have been caught red handed by the security cameras. They first tried to open a window on the lateral of the house and went behind the house to open the swimming pool access. The owners, an elderly couple, was travelling when the robbery took place. Their daughter declared the rob at the police station when she visited the house and discovered it was open and disordered. The bandits took watches and jewelleries. Nobody has been arrested.
28/11/2023 – 47yo female deputy has been carjacked by an armed man on her way to her duty in Embaré, East Santos. She told her colleagues she was stopped at a signal when the criminal pushes a gun and orders her to get off her car. She told she also has been strongly threatened by the bandit. The car has been found a few hours later, in the nearby district of Aparecida, closed and with all her belongings inside. Forensics took up and analysed the suspect´s fingerprints on the car that permitted his placement in custody.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponto da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo and others.
- The waterfront has many incidents of opportunistic thefts, never display wealth and avoid walks there during the night.
- Residences in the of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves. Make sure your building is well protected.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, mobile phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and that negotiation may be lengthy.
