The exporting company lacked the necessary legal documentation to prove the lawful origin and environmental licenses, constituting the crime of mineral usurpation.
02/11/2025 – On Sunday (2), a 23-year-old man was arrested in Santos after running over a pedestrian, throwing him into Canal 3 on Avenida Washington Luís in the Boqueirão neighborhood. According to São Paulo’s Public Security Secretariat, the driver was intoxicated and fled without providing help. Security cameras recorded the incident around 8:30 a.m., showing the vehicle hitting the victim as he crossed a pedestrian lane. Police later located the suspect at home and arrested him. The case was filed as negligent bodily injury, failure to render aid, fleeing the scene, and drunk driving. The 40-year-old victim, found conscious but disoriented, suffered head trauma and arm fractures and remains hospitalized at Santa Casa de Santos.

03/11/2025 – On Monday afternoon (3), on Rua das Pedras in Morro São Bento, a 17-year-old teenager died following a shootout with the Military Police. PM officers were patrolling when they were attacked by two armed suspects; one of the suspects managed to flee. The police reacted, hitting the teenager, who later succumbed to his injuries. The police seized a firearm, cash, a two-way radio, and portions of cocaine, crack, and marijuana from the deceased.
05/11/2025 – On Wednesday afternoon (5), at the Central UPA in Vila Matias, a man was arrested for sexual harassment. The suspect harassed female staff and patients, damaged public property within the health unit, and was also found in possession of marijuana. After being restrained by security, he was handed over to the police, where he was charged with sexual harassment, damage to public property, and drug possession.
05/11/2025 – The Baixada Santista reported a spike in meningitis cases in 2025, reaching 50 confirmed cases and 2 deaths (in Praia Grande and Santos) as of Wednesday (5). The most affected municipalities are Guarujá and São Vicente (14 cases each). Authorities, concerned about this increase, are intensifying vaccination in all health units and monitoring in schools to contain the disease.
08/11/2025 – A 24-year-old man was beaten following a generalized brawl that began at an events venue, on Rua Itororó, Center of Santos, between Friday night (07/11) and Saturday morning (8). According to the family, five people assaulted the young man outside the venue, stealing his cell phone and wedding ring, and leaving him lying in the street. The victim, who was unconscious for several hours, was taken by friends to the UPA and then transferred to Santa Casa. The case was registered with the Civil Police.
08/11/2025 – A man was restrained by pharmacy employees after attempting to commit a theft on Saturday (08/11), in the Ponta da Praia neighborhood. The suspect tried to leave the establishment with hidden products but was detained by workers, who called the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM). Upon realizing the agents’ arrival, the criminal gave up the attempt. He was taken to the 3rd Police Precinct and remained at the disposal of Justice.
11/11/2025 – A disagreement between a driver and a motorcyclist resulted in physical aggression on Tuesday afternoon (11/11), on Avenida Conselheiro Nébias, in the Boqueirão neighborhood. The motorcyclist stopped, hit the car, forcibly pulled the driver out, and started the fight in the middle of the street. The incident was recorded by a resident, but the Municipal Civil Guard and the Public Security Secretariat reported not having been called to attend the occurrence.
13/11/2025 – A 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested in the act for criminal association and fraud on Thursday afternoon (13), in the Ponta da Praia neighborhood. The couple was caught by the Civil Police attempting to unlock a victim’s bank card at an ATM. The man had already been arrested for the same crime less than two months prior.
13/11/2025 – A 58-year-old man was arrested in the act for sexual harassment on Thursday morning (13), in a convenience store at a gas station on Avenida Ana Costa, in the Gonzaga neighborhood. The aggressor, who was consuming beer with his wife, slapped a 21-year-old female employee on the buttocks. The crime was recorded by security cameras, and the suspect remained detained.
15/11/2025 – The Federal Revenue Service intercepted about 1,858 tons of copper in 73 containers at the Port of Santos, in an action disclosed on Saturday (15). The cargo, destined for Asia, was identified by companies that issued irregular invoices for export. The companies are being investigated for fraud, smuggling, and crimes against the economic order, potentially being responsible for a million-dollar fraud. The Federal Revenue Service highlighted that this seizure is part of a fight against groups operating with the same modus operandi in the region.
17/11/2025 – The Federal Revenue Service seized 405 kg of cocaine hidden in a 13-ton shipment of bovine collagen at the Port of Santos on Monday (17). The drug, identified with the help of sniffer dogs and scanners, was destined for Hamburg, Germany. Following this interception, carried out via a risk management operation, the Federal Police were called in to conduct the investigation.
17/11/2025 – A man was arrested in the act for copper wire theft on Monday (17), around midnight, at Parque Valongo, in the Historic Center of Santos. The suspect had cut approximately 40 meters of external lighting cables from the ship Professor Besnard with the intention of selling them to buy drugs. The Municipal Civil Guard (GCM) apprehended the thief, who was carrying the cables and a knife in a garbage bag.
18/11/2025 – An 83-year-old woman in Santos fell victim to the fake lottery ticket scam on Tuesday (18). Approached on Rua Ministro Xavier de Toledo, in Campo Grande, by a woman posing as a Jehovah’s Witness who held a R$10 million ticket, the victim was convinced by an accomplice who simulated a call to Caixa (Federal Bank). The victim was driven to six Banco do Brasil branches to make withdrawals, losing a total of R$ 28,000. The case is registered at the 7th Police Precinct as fraud.
19/11/2025 – A couple with a baby was robbed by two armed criminals on a motorcycle on Wednesday morning (19), on Rua Engenheiro Gercino Hugo Caparelli, Vila São Jorge. The thieves approached the victims, who were walking with their child in a stroller, and stole their wedding rings. The Military Police were called by the victim, conducted patrols in the area, but as of yet, there was no police report filed or suspects detained.
21/11/2025 – A rideshare driver was kidnapped and robbed by four passengers in the Piratininga neighborhood, on Friday evening (21). The group announced the robbery at the end of the ride, forced the driver into the back of the vehicle, and stole R$280 from him. The assailants fled at the approach of a Military Police patrol car, leaving behind a fake handgun.
24/11/2025 – A nightclub located on Rua Itororó, in the Center of Santos, is the subject of numerous complaints from residents and patrons, according to a report published on Monday (24). The neighborhood has become a “scenario of chaos” at night, marked by recurrent problems of excessive noise, drug trafficking, brawls, robberies, and the “fake Uber” scam. Residents denounce total insecurity despite the police presence, and municipal and state authorities claim to be investigating the disturbances.
28/11/2025 – A 27-year-old female motorcyclist was dragged by a car for about 40 meters on Friday morning (28), on Avenida Senador Pinheiro Machado, in Vila Mathias. Following a traffic collision, the male driver kicked her bike, grabbed her arm, and accelerated his car, dragging her before she fell, sustaining abrasions. The incident was captured on video. The case was registered as damage, collision, and bodily injury, and the police are conducting diligence to identify the driver.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponta da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown, and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo, and others, since they are gang-controlled zones where shootouts occur frequently.
- Avoid passing near the VLT tunnel, in José Menino, as many drug users and homeless people stay there, especially next to the walls of the Clube dos Ingleses.
- The waterfront has many incidents of thefts and robberies (snatch and run), never display wealth, and avoid walking there during the night.
- During the Summer, risks increase, due to the bigger number of beachgoers.
- Residences in the neighborhoods of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário, and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves who look for bikes and items in the common areas.
- Make sure your building is well protected, with a 24/7 doorperson.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant, as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and nowadays they tend to be quick and focused on forcing the victims to transfer money using their cell phones.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
