The investigation seized medical-hospital supplies, restricted-use surgical instruments, and pharmacological substances, indicating operation by a person without technical qualifications.
03/12/2025 – On Wednesday night (3), a woman was attacked by teenagers on the Boqueirão Beach boardwalk who attempted to steal her iPhone, reflecting the security tension along the waterfront. One of the assailants was quickly subdued by bystanders on the sand, indicating public intervention in the incident. The news emphasizes the theft of the cell phone as the motive for the attack, occurring amid concerns about violence in the area.

04/12/2025 – A 40-year-old man was arrested in a Santos shopping mall on Thursday (4), for attempting to extort a railway company (Rumo). The suspect, who promoted attacks including train fires on the São Paulo Coast, offered to interrupt the crimes for a monthly fee, claiming control over the local criminal activity, including the PCC. He was arrested in the act during a negotiation and charged with extortion, criminal association, and danger of railway disaster.
07/12/2025 – Two men (26 and 29) were shot and killed by Military Police in Morro São Bento, on Sunday night (7), during an operation. Police claim they were received by gunfire from four armed men, but the family of one victim alleges the officers began shooting immediately and that the deceased was unarmed. A third man was shot after attempting to approach the scene.
07/12/2025 – Reporter Aline Gomes, from CazéTV, was attacked while reporting live outside Vila Belmiro, following the Santos vs. Cruzeiro match on Sunday (7). A man ran up and violently shoved the microphone from her hand, interrupting the broadcast. Gomes stated on social media that the attack was deliberate, causing her an ear injury (due to the earpiece) and injuring her cameraman’s hand.
08/12/2025 – On Monday (8), in the Aparecida neighborhood, a resident witnessed a violent fight between two homeless people on Avenida Doutor Epitácio Pessoa. This incident is symptomatic of a recurring climate of insecurity on this street, marked by frequent phenomena such as home invasion (the resident himself having had a bicycle stolen two weeks earlier), drug consumption on public roads, scenes of confrontation between homeless people, and public health problems (physiological needs carried out on public roads).
11/12/2025 – A 62-year-old man was apprehended and detained in downtown Santos for attempted shoplifting on Thursday (11). An employee of the store alerted the civil police to the man’s suspicious behavior as he was trying to leave the establishment without paying. Upon his arrest, officers found several chocolate bars and a stolen backpack on him.
12/12/2025 – Four teachers at the Arcanjo Rafael Daycare Center, in the Marapé neighborhood, have been temporarily removed from their duties on Friday (12) after being accused of mistreatment and threats against the children. The accusations made by parents include threatening to lock them in a dark room, cutting their hair if they disobeyed, scaring the children by hitting rulers on a cabinet, and providing inappropriate milk to those with dietary restrictions.
13/12/2025 – A 35-year-old wanted man, accused of extorting tourists at Guarulhos International Airport, was arrested by the Federal Police on Saturday (13), at the Port of Santos. He was attempting to board the singer Belo’s themed cruise ship. The individual was the subject of an arrest warrant for extortion, having threatened passengers, particularly foreigners, and demanded abusive payments for clandestine transport. During his arrest, police also found marijuana, hashish, and ecstasy in his luggage.
16/12/2025 – The Brazilian Federal Revenue Service seized 17 kg of cocaine hidden within a container structure at the Port of Santos on Tuesday (16). Sniffer dogs discovered the drugs camouflaged inside a six-ton shipment of bananas destined for the United Kingdom. Criminals had replaced parts of the container’s ceiling insulation with drug bricks; a method used six times this year for smaller volumes. The Federal Police have taken over the investigation, marking a total of 6.4 tons of cocaine seized at the port so far in 2025.
17/12/2025 – On Wednesday (17), the Federal Revenue seized 598 kg of cocaine hidden in a peanut shipment bound for Lithuania at the Port of Santos. Officers used sniffer dogs to find the drugs stashed inside sacks among 76 tons of cargo. This operation followed a 17 kg seizure in a banana container the previous day, bringing the port’s total for 2025 to over 7 tons.
19/12/2025 – On Friday (19), Civil Police shut down a liquor store on Amador Bueno Street, downtown Santos, following reports of multiple illegal activities. During the raid, officers discovered gambling machines in operation, adulterated alcoholic beverages, illicit cigarettes, and a bypass on the electricity meter (power theft). The owner was arrested on the spot for aggravated theft and misdemeanor offenses and remains in custody.
22/12/2025 – On Monday (22), in the Vila Pantanal community, in the Saboó neighborhood, military police arrested a lookout and detained a minor during a targeted anti-drug operation. Officers seized a significant quantity of narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine, and skunk, along with packaging materials and radio equipment.
23/12/2025 – On Tuesday (23), the city of Santos launched its “Operation Summer” to handle the influx of approximately 16.7 million tourists expected along the São Paulo coast. The security strategy includes a reinforcement of 250 municipal guards and 314 military police officers, supported by a network of 3,000 surveillance cameras and high-resolution drones. The operation, which features specialized patrols using quads on the sand and boats at sea, is part of a record-breaking state-wide effort involving 4,100 additional officers and R$ 54 million in health funding to ensure safety and public services until February 20, 2026.
25/12/2025 – On Thursday (25), a convicted robber was recaptured in the Paquetá neighborhood following a police pursuit. The fugitive, who had failed to return to Hortolândia Penitentiary after a temporary release in September, attempted to evade a patrol on a bicycle before scaling the wall of a private parking lot. Officers discovered him hiding behind an iron gate and returned him to custody.
26/12/2025 – On Friday (26), at the Port of Santos, the Federal Police seized approximately 100 kg of cocaine hidden in the hull of the Panamanian-flagged vessel “Cap San Maleas”. The drugs were discovered by Federal Police and Navy divers during an underwater inspection of the ship’s sea chest just before its departure for Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
29/12/2025 – On Monday (29), a joint operation between the Federal Revenue Service and the Federal Police at the Port of Santos led to the seizure of 289 kg of cocaine. The drugs were hidden in bags inside a container filled with engine parts destined for the Port of Hamburg, Germany.
30/12/2025 – On Tuesday (30), Civil Police arrested a 37-year-old man for stabbing his ex-partner in the abdomen on Christmas Eve. The suspect, who had been a fugitive since the attack, was located on Boqueirão Beach while assisting with the setup of beach tents. Carried out by the Women’s Defense Precinct, the arrest was part of a special year-end operation targeting domestic violence and protecting victims.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponta da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown, and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo, and others, since they are gang-controlled zones where shootouts occur frequently.
- Avoid passing near the VLT tunnel, in José Menino, as many drug users and homeless people stay there, especially next to the walls of the Clube dos Ingleses.
- The waterfront has many incidents of thefts and robberies (snatch and run), never display wealth, and avoid walking there during the night.
- During the Summer, risks increase, due to the bigger number of beachgoers.
- Residences in the neighborhoods of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário, and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves who look for bikes and items in the common areas.
- Make sure your building is well protected, with a 24/7 doorperson.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant, as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and nowadays they tend to be quick and focused on forcing the victims to transfer money using their cell phones.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
