According to SSP-SP data for 2025, Gonzaga is the neighborhood in Santos with the highest number of property crimes, 774 incidents, followed by Centro (565) and Boqueirão (552). While Gonzaga and Boqueirão face high theft rates due to intense commercial activity, the Centro district records the city’s highest volume of vehicle thefts. In contrast, Morro Santa Terezinha and Caruara remain the areas with minimal occurrences. These statistics highlight that crime is heavily concentrated in high-traffic transit and tourist hubs.

28/02/2026 – A man was caught in the act by the Military Police after stealing aluminum gutters from a residence in Vila Belmiro on Saturday night (28). Located during a patrol on Marquês de Olinda Street, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted to committing another theft earlier that same morning.
02/03/2026 – On Monday (2), a 20-year-old freshman was targeted by a police investigation after leaking WhatsApp messages revealed him threatening to rape a female classmate. In the group chat, the student detailed plans to assault the victim at a university party while wearing a mask to conceal his identity. Following the public outcry and the severity of the threats, the Santa Cecília university (Boqueirão) officially expelled the student, banning him from all academic activities and campus premises.
05/03/2026 – On Thursday (5), Civil Police dismantled a sophisticated criminal network involved in the theft and laundering of precious minerals, such as tungsten, through “Operation W74”. The gang intercepted export containers at the Santos Logistics Hub, replacing high-value cargo with worthless iron powder and using cloned seals to bypass inspections until reaching destinations like Germany. The operation led to the seizure of 3.6 tons of minerals and the freezing of R$15 million in assets across several companies and individuals.
05/03/2026 – On Thursday (5), the Civil Police dismantled a fraudulent modeling agency that had scammed more than ten victims, causing losses exceeding R$ 30,000. The group rented commercial spaces to lure aspiring models with promises of professional photo shoots and job placements in exchange for upfront fees that never resulted in any services. During the raid, officers seized cell phones, notebooks, and a replica firearm.
