07/10/2026 – On Wednesday (7), São Paulo’s Civil Police reported investigating the deaths of nine people whose bodies were found wrapped in plastic bags, blankets, and tied sheets across different areas of the state capital between September 5 and October 2. The discoveries, made on public roads and in wooded areas, raised speculation about a possible serial killer. However, the Homicide and Personal Protection Department (DHPP) ruled out connections between the cases, suggesting motives involving revenge killings and executions ordered by criminal organizations through so-called “crime courts.” Eight victims have been identified, and police have identified suspects in some cases, reinforcing the theory of multiple perpetrators. A tenth case in Itapecerica da Serra, Greater São Paulo, is being investigated separately.

Believing he was dead, the attackers tied him up in the back seat and drove around the city for hours, allegedly planning to dispose of his body in a river. However, a neighbor witnessed part of the incident and alerted the police, providing the vehicle’s license plate. Officers subsequently contacted the suspects and persuaded them to surrender, rescuing the victim alive.

The arrest was carried out by the Anti-Kidnapping Police Unit (Dope) under a temporary detention warrant issued by a court in Osasco, Greater São Paulo. Spalone was already under investigation for allegedly participating in a scheme that diverted R$146 million through more than 600 illegal PIX transfers, of which R$100 million was recovered. He had previously been arrested in Argentina through Interpol in September 2025 and later granted provisional release. His defense denies any connection to the PCC and intends to seek his release.
