NEW FACST FROM MASTER CASE MAINTAIN THE STF CRISIS ALIVE AND INFLUENCE THE ELECTIONS

Brazil’s political and institutional environment was marked during the past week by the final stage of the 2026 presidential campaign and by the continuing fallout from investigations involving former Banco Master owner Daniel Vorcaro. Electoral polling showed an increasingly competitive dispute between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and Senator Flávio Bolsonaro, while controversies involving disinformation, judicial intervention and alleged links between political, financial and judicial actors intensified. At the same time, the Banco Master case continued to generate internal tensions at the Supreme Federal Court (STF), uncertainty over investigations involving Master and the INSS, and scrutiny of judges and lawyers allegedly connected to Vorcaro. Other developments included the federal government’s decision to prohibit online betting and a Federal Police investigation involving a lobbyist close to Lula’s son.
