06/04/2026 – On Monday morning (6), at Abílio Rodrigues Paz Square in the Aparecida neighborhood, a 33-year-old man was caught performing lewd acts in public. Witnesses alerted the Military Police after seeing and filming the suspect touching his private parts in the presence of a woman passing by. Following a patrol based on descriptions provided by local residents, officers located the individual nearby and took him to the Women’s Defense Station (DDM).
08/04/2026 – On Wednesday (8), a 61-year-old man was found dead in a street in the Rádio Clube neighborhood. The body was located by passersby, triggering the immediate intervention of the Military Police and SAMU, who could only confirm the death at the scene. According to preliminary findings, the victim showed signs of violence, leading authorities to register the case as a suspicious death.

09/04/2026 – On Thursday (9), the Civil Police dismantled a call center dedicated to the “false lawyer” scam in the Morro do Marapé neighborhood. A 26-year-old man was indicted for his alleged involvement in this network, which contacted victims claiming that court settlements were available and demanding upfront payments to release them. During the search, officers seized cell phones, SIM cards, bank cards, and a laptop containing evidence of criminal activity.
11/04/2026 – On Saturday (11), during a match between Santos FC and Atlético-MG at the Vila Belmiro stadium, a visiting team supporter exposed his genitals toward the opposing stands. The incident occurred right after a goal was disallowed, sparking significant tension between the two groups of fans before the individual was formally identified with the help of other supporters. Following this obscene act, which was filmed and reported to the authorities, the man was intercepted by the Military Police and arrested in the act as he was leaving the stadium.
12/04/2026 – On Sunday (12), an act of sexual harassment was committed by a Ukrainian national in the Gonzaga neighborhood. The individual persistently approached a woman demanding kisses before physically restraining her by grabbing her arm and slapping her buttocks. The suspect, who subsequently attempted to force his way into a bystander’s vehicle, was located through the city’s surveillance cameras and arrested in the act.
12/04/2026 – On Sunday (12), a case of domestic violence and threats led to police intervention in the Marapé neighborhood. A 50-year-old man is under investigation for physically assaulting his ex-partner and sending her a photo of a weapon via WhatsApp accompanied by the message “Careful. See you tomorrow.” Following the victim’s report, the Civil Police executed a search warrant, resulting in the seizure of an airsoft replica used for intimidation. Although the individual was taken to the station for questioning, the intervention secured the premises and confirmed the harassment.
14/04/2026 – On Tuesday (14) a 48-year-old anesthesiologist was caught in the act and arrested in the Marapé neighborhood following accusations of strangling and threatening to kill his 25-year-old girlfriend. Prompted by the victim’s report, Military Police intercepted the suspect in his vehicle, where they discovered a Glock pistol hidden behind the passenger seat. A subsequent search of his residence led to the seizure of additional ammunition and magazines. The physician faces charges of domestic violence and illegal possession of a firearm.
15/04/2026 – On Wednesday (15), a 68-year-old Portuguese businessman was arrested in the Ponta da Praia neighborhood during “Operation Narco Fluxo”, targeting a R$ 1.6 billion money laundering ring. Co-owner of a luxury bakery, he is suspected of managing illicit accounts tied to a criminal organization. This massive Federal Police investigation also led to the detention of singers MC Ryan SP and MC Poze do Rodo, as well as the creator of the Choquei page.
17/04/2026 – In the Aparecida neighborhood, on Friday (17), a 39-year-old man fatally stabbed his 66-year-old brother-in-law as the victim left a bank. Following the attack, the suspect fled to his home in the Embaré district to change his clothes and order lunch; however, he was quickly located and caught in the act by police.
18/04/2026 – On Saturday night (18), a criminal used a set of keys to enter a residential building in the Boqueirão neighborhood, on Vahia de Abreu Street, stealing a bicycle after disabling the security sensors. This break-in follows an armed robbery that occurred days earlier in front of the same building, during which a resident had his bag stolen containing those very keys. The victim was able to confirm the connection between the two incidents through surveillance footage showing the perpetrator entering the premises without forced entry.
20/04/2026 – On Monday (20), a 30-year-old man was arrested at a supermarket in the Chico de Paula neighborhood for an attempted femicide committed in March 2026. He had violently attacked his ex-partner with a wooden plank and struck her mother with a flying kick. Wanted since the incident, the suspect was located and placed in custody.
22/04/2026 – On Wednesday (22), a 15-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a speeding car on Afonso Pena Avenue, in the Macuco neighborhood. The impact threw the victim over two meters into the air, with his body landing 30 meters away as he was returning from school. Despite a negative breathalyzer test, the driver was arrested for homicide with “eventual intent”.
23/04/2026 – On Thursday (23), a 17-year-old boy was the victim of an attempted homicide after being lynched by more than 20 people in the Gonzaga neighborhood. Wrongly accused of filming a prior dispute, the teenager was beaten and thrown against a storefront before being rescued by a driver who managed to pull him away from the crowd. The investigation revealed the party was held in an unlicensed clandestine venue, while the attackers remain at large.
24/04/2026 – A woman was filmed slapping and pulling a young girl’s hair in the middle of Rua Cyra, in the José Menino neighborhood, on Friday (24). Security footage shows the assailant hitting the child twice in the face while she was in a stroller, then catching her by the hair as she tried to run away. A police report was filed with the Women’s Defense Precinct (DDM), but no arrests have been made yet.
26/04/2026 – The Paulista A3 championship final ended in a massive brawl between players from Portuguesa Santista and Marília on Sunday (26), at the Ulrico Mursa stadium in the Jabaquara neighborhood. Violence erupted immediately after the final whistle confirmed Briosa’s 2-0 victory and title. In addition to the on-field fight, part of the stadium’s perimeter fence collapsed during stoppage time as players celebrated the second goal
28/04/2026 – On Tuesday (28), in the middle of the morning, a shootout occurred in the Rádio Clube neighborhood during a Military Police patrol on Hugo Maia Avenue. A suspicious individual opened fire on the officers as they were exiting their vehicle, leading to an immediate response of three rifle shots from the police. The assailant managed to escape and was not located despite searches in the area. The case was registered as attempted murder.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of Embaré, Ponta da Praia, Campo Grande, Rádio Clube, Downtown, and Estuário.
- Never visit neighborhoods on the hills, such as Morro de São Bento, Jabaquara, Saboo, and others, since they are gang-controlled zones where shootouts occur frequently.
- Avoid passing near the VLT tunnel, in José Menino, as many drug users and homeless people stay there, especially next to the walls of the Clube dos Ingleses.
- The waterfront has many incidents of thefts and robberies (snatch and run), never display wealth, and avoid walking there during the night.
- During the Summer, risks increase, due to the bigger number of beachgoers.
- Residences in the neighborhoods of Pompeia, Gonzaga, Boqueirão, Embaré, Aparecida, Estuário, and Ponta da Praia are frequently targeted by thieves who look for bikes and items in the common areas.
- Make sure your building is well protected, with a 24/7 doorperson.
- Be cautious at all times, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand over to muggers if attacked.
- In case of robbery: cooperate, do not try to run after the assailant, as they might be armed or resort to violence.
- In case of kidnapping:
- Cooperate in order to mitigate the risk of violence, and do not lie or provide false information to your kidnappers.
- Bear in mind that the vast majority of kidnappings are financially motivated, and nowadays they tend to be quick and focused on forcing the victims to transfer money using their cell phones.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
