01/05/2026 – On Friday (1st), two criminals on a motorcycle robbed two families in succession on Paraibuna Street in Vila Prudente, East São Paulo. After robbing a man and his son, they targeted a second car carrying a lawyer and his family. The intervention of an armed motorcyclist sparked a shootout; the lawyer then rammed the assailants with his car in self-defense. The perpetrators fled on foot, leaving their motorcycle trapped under the vehicle, while the lawyer’s wife sustained minor injuries from shattered glass.
02/05/2026 – On Saturday (2), a 51-year-old man was caught in the act and arrested for stealing metallic structures from the Line 17-Gold construction site on Pedro Bueno Avenue in the Vila Paulista neighborhood, South Zone. The suspect, who has an extensive criminal record (30 legal proceedings and 17 investigations), tried to flee through the monorail construction access points before being captured by the 12th BPM/M. 04/05/2026 – On Monday (4), São Paulo Civil Police arrested the fifth and final suspect involved in the gang rape of two boys (aged 7 and 10) that occurred on April 21 in the city’s East Zone. The suspect is a 15-year-old minor located in the Ermelino Matarazzo neighborhood. In total, four minors have been sent to juvenile detention (Fundação Casa), and a 21-year-old man, arrested in Bahia after confessing to the crime, is awaiting transfer to São Paulo. 04/05/2026 – On Monday (4), an operation by Rota and Força Tática units resulted in the death of a 20-year-old passenger and the arrest of a driver in Cidade Ademar, South Zone. Following a car chase, officers discharged their weapons, striking the passenger four times. 05/05/2026 – In the early hours of Tuesday (05), a chase ended with an exchange of gunfire between police and suspects, in Americanópolis, in the South Zone of São Paulo. According to ROTA police officers, two suspects fled the approach and this would have started the chase. One suspect was arrested and the other killed. According to police information, upon checking the vehicle, officers found 2,300 portions of marijuana, cocaine, crack, and ether. The suspects’ lawyer disputes the police version and maintains that his clients were not armed. The internal affairs department is investigating the case.
11/05/2026 — A 53-year-old woman dies in a shootout after a motorcycle robbery in the East Zone. A 53-year-old woman died after being hit by a gunshot during a shootout between an off-duty police officer and suspects in a motorcycle robbery. The crime occurred on Saturday night (11) on Avenida Regente Feijó, Vila Regente Feijó neighborhood, in the east zone. An off-duty police officer witnessed the robbery, intervened, and there was a confrontation, and the woman was hit by a stray bullet. The case was registered as robbery, resistance, and homicide.
11/05/2026 — The Civil Police recovered more than 640 meters of stolen cables and wires in Campo Belo neighborhood, in the South Zone of São Paulo. A man was arrested in the act of receiving stolen goods during an inspection at a scrapyard. The stolen cables were for telecommunications and energy, causing significant losses to the utility companies.

15/05/2026 – On Friday (15), a second 17-year-old girl filed a police report in São Paulo against digital influencer Jefferson de Souza, 37. She is the second minor to formally log a complaint against the influencer, who stands accused of using Artificial Intelligence and deepfake technology to manipulate photos of young female members of the Christian Congregation of Brazil (CCB), placing them into sexualized video contexts. 16/05/2026 – On Saturday afternoon (16), a 70-year-old man was arrested in the act after shooting and killing his wife in the Itaim Paulista neighborhood, East Zone. 17/05/2026 – On Sunday morning (17), a 33-year-old man was stabbed inside his luxury car on Valdemar Ferreira Avenue in the Butantã neighborhood, West Zone. According to investigations, the victim had pulled over to drop off a woman when another individual entered the vehicle and attacked him with a knife. Security footage captured the moment a woman was seemingly thrown out of the car. The victim was rushed to the University Hospital, where he remains under medical care. Police located and questioned one woman before releasing her, while a cell phone was seized for analysis.
17/05/2026 – On Sunday night (17), a 40-year-old man was shot and killed after reacting to a robbery to protect his brother, an unarmed off-duty Military Police officer, on Rua do Símbolo, in the Morumbi neighborhood, South Zone. The two had stepped outside a condominium during a family birthday party when they were approached by two criminals on a motorcycle. The robbers forced them to kneel and confiscated their cell phones. The victim then engaged in a physical struggle with one of the assailants. During the altercation, the victim was shot in the chest, and although his brother managed to seize the suspects’ weapon and fire two shots, the criminals escaped on the motorcycle. The victim was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
18/05/2026 – On Monday morning (18), a woman was stabbed to death, and a man was wounded following an argument inside a bar on Nova Resende Street, in the Sapopemba region, East Zone. The attacker fled the scene but was quickly arrested nearby on Curupiréira Street by Metropolitan Civil Guard (GCM) officers, who intercepted him while he was walking with a bloody knife and blood-stained clothes. Upon containment, the suspect claimed he lashed out because “nobody slaps my face”. The female victim succumbed to her injuries at Sapopemba Hospital, while the surviving male victim was treated for stab wounds to his chest and groin before giving his statement.
19/05/2026 – On Monday night (19), five armed robbers invaded a home and held eight family members hostage, including two teenagers, in Cidade Dutra, South Zone. For nearly an hour, the criminals threatened the family and pistol-whipped a victim to demand cash and jewelry. Alerted by neighbors, the Military Police arrived as the gang attempted to flee. One suspect tried to carjack a passing motorist but was caught alongside a second accomplice on the street. The other three suspects escaped.
19/05/2026 – On Tuesday afternoon (19), veteran helicopter pilot Odailton de Oliveira was shot in the head and killed during a robbery in the Butantã region, West Zone. The victim was driving on Rio Pequeno Avenue with his window open when a criminal on a motorcycle approached and announced the heist. The suspect fired at point-blank range before fleeing. Following the gunshot, the victim lost control of his car and crashed into a bus; he was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Known as “Dato de Oliveira,” the pilot had a distinguished 40-year aviation career, which included flying the “Globocop” helicopter for TV Globo. The shooter fled.
22/05/2026 – On Friday (22), residents displaced by the May 11 gas explosion in Jaguaré, West São Paulo, blocked Avenida Presidente Altino to protest the sudden termination of their emergency hotel lodging funded by utilities Sabesp and Comgás. 25/05/2026 – On Monday evening (25), a woman was struck in the head by a robber during a mugging outside her home in Santana, North Zone. As she opened her gate around 20:00 to park her car, two suspects on a motorcycle ambushed her, and the passenger assaulted her before fleeing with her cell phone. According to the Military Police, the duo committed two other robberies in the area just moments earlier, and no arrests have been made yet.
25/05/2026 – Early Monday morning (25), two men were arrested following a brief police pursuit in the Lauzane Paulista neighborhood, North Zone. Upon searching their car’s trunk, officers discovered 207 empty, unbranded weight-loss injector pens and 23 vials of an unidentified chemical fluid suspected to be illicit active weight-loss ingredients. The suspects were booked at the Vila Penteado Police Station, and the Civil Police have launched an official investigation to dismantle this dangerous pharmaceutical counterfeiting ring.
26/05/2026 – On Tuesday (26), a fake doctor was arrested in the Jardim Helena neighborhood, East São Paulo, during “Operation Hippocrates II” for operating illegally at a private hospital alongside a fugitive accomplice. Hence, avoid walking around with your cell phone in your hand, in addition to wearing jewels and expensive watches.
- As sexual aggressions are on the rise, women should pay special attention to the environments where they go to, avoid empty and dark places.
- During a night out, never accept food and beverages from strangers, as they can put some drugs in them. Men and women alike are targets of such crimes.
- Attention to the windows when inside a vehicle. Keep them closed, as criminals use heavy traffic to rob passengers with exposed valuables, like a cell phone.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
- Be careful when trying to meet new people on the internet, as criminals use dating apps and social networks to assault you and apply scams.
- The number of express kidnappings is still high.
- Criminals use violence to make their victims transfer all their money via PIX.
- Cooperate to mitigate the risk of violence.
