28/06/2024 – A man and woman were attacked in their car on Friday night (28) in Maracanã. The suspects fired more than 20 shots at the couple, on Professor Manoel de Abreu Street. They were able to walk away from the crime scene to ask police officers who were patrolling the street for help.

28/06/2024 – Friday afternoon (28) a man was arrested for the murder of his aunt in Santa Cruz on Thursday morning (27). The suspect confessed to the crime a few hours after the victim’s death. Police are investigating the involvement of two other suspects, one of the victim’s sons and a Military Police officer.
29/06/2024 – On Saturday (29) a couple was robbed in their parking garage in Tijuca. The victim’s car was stolen by at least four suspects who had broken into the garage earlier in the day and robbed them as they disembarked the car. The suspects were not caught and are assumed to have committed a similar crime on the same street a week earlier. Tijuca has seen a 21.5% increase in robberies from January to April 2024 compared with the same period in 2023 according to data from the Public Security Institute (ISP).
29/06/2024 – A man was arrested in Manguinhos for cargo theft on Saturday (29). The man is a known criminal with five criminal records in which he is responsible for criminal organization, drug trafficking, association for trafficking, robbery, and illegal possession of firearms. The arrest was made by police officers from the Cargo Theft Repression Unit.
01/07/2024 – Parents stated that a nursing technician at Salgado Filho Hospital in Méier hit their four-month-old son on Monday (1). The mother stated that the technician slapped the child twice in the face, she also stated that the technician smelled very strongly of alcohol. The case is being investigated by police and the hospital has removed the employee from his activities until the facts are ascertained.
01/07/2024 – Military police officers arrest a young woman at Novo Rio Bus Station for possession of illegal firearms on Monday (1). The suspect had two rifles, magazines, and ammunition in her luggage and tried to run away when police entered the platform. The suspect stated that she had to deliver the weapons to the city of Manhuaçu.
02/07/2024 – Criminals stole approximately 500 meters of cables on Tuesday (2) in Parque Colúmbia. Agents from the Military Police’s Special Patrol and Crowd Control Battalion discovered the crime and seized a backhoe and two motorcycles, as well as recovering the cables. They have not disclosed if anyone was arrested.
02/07/2024 – An elderly woman was found stabbed to death in her home in Vicente de Carvalho, on Tuesday morning (2). The victim was found by neighbors after not adhering to her daily routine. When the neighbors showed up at her house, they found the door ajar and stated that the house appeared to have been ransacked, with knives, scissors, and groceries scattered around the place. An investigation has been opened, no one has been arrested.
03/07/2024 – A Military Police captain took a fatal shot to the head during an operation in Morro do Urubu on Wednesday (3). The operation was against drug traffickers from the Comando Vermelho (CV) who were stealing cargo and cars in the region. The operation turned into a shootout between police and bandits.
03/07/2024 – Six people died in a Military Police (PM) operation on Tuesday (3) in Cidade de Deus. The PM agents were operating in the community to suppress vehicle thefts and prevent attempts by Comando Vermelho (CV) to expand its territorial domain. In retaliation to the operation drug traffickers who control the area set fire to barricades and shot at the police officers.
03/07/2024 – Members of a drug delivery gang, who operated out of an apartment in Andarai, were arrested for drug dealing on Wednesday (3). The gang delivered skank, a type of marijuana, to customers’ homes in several neighborhoods in Rio disguised as food delivery couriers.
03/07/2024 – A Surinamese woman was arrested at a Rio bus station with more than 4kgs of cocaine on her on Wednesday (3). The drugs the suspect was carrying were valued at R$100,000 and she stated that she would receive $1,000 for transporting the drugs from São Paulo. The suspect was released from prison a year ago for international drug trafficking.
04/07/2024 – A 22-year-old woman was harassed on bus line 232 on Thursday morning (4). The victim stated that she noticed a man staring at her on the bus before he started masturbating while he looked at her. The case is being investigated by the civil police.
04/07/2024 – The Specialized Police Station for Weapons, Ammunition and Explosives (Desarme) arrested a man suspected of drug trafficking in Piedade on Thursday (4). The suspect is also suspected of running a factory producing clandestine weapons and ammunition, as well as having supplied material to the faction Comando Vermelho (CV).
05/07/2024 – Military Police carried out an operation in multiple communities in Madureira on Friday (5). The operation took place in Serrinha, Fazendinha, São José da Pedra, Patolinha, Dendezinho, Visconde de Sabóia, and Primavera, in the North Zone of Rio. Employees at a factory in the area stated that multiple stray bullets hit the windows, as well as an employee’s leg while she was on her way to work.
