According to “Agenda de Prioridades”, a survey a survey commissioned by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), shows that 28% of Brazilians believe that the main measure to improve public security in the country is to increase the number of police officers on the streets.
A few other measures were also mentioned. Combating drug trafficking ranks second (21%) and improving the equipment used by the police ranks third (12%).
The need to expand policing is perceived in all sociodemographic profiles, but it is particularly seen by people with a family income of less than one minimum wage (32%), residents of the Northeast (37%) and capitals (32%).
