30/10/2022 – A man was arrested after stealing a purse from inside a car. According to the Military Police, officers were patrolling the central area of the city when they were called on Rua Jorge Reid, in the Cavaleiros neighborhood, to check for a vehicle break-in. The glass in the right-hand window was shattered by the criminal. In searches nearby, the criminal was located with the purse and a magnetic card in the victim’s name.

03/11/2022 – A 17-year-old boy was found dead in Aterrado do Imburo on the Ajuda de Cima neighborhood. The young man had been kidnapped on Wednesday (02/11). According to the Military Police, officers were called on Pindobas Street to find a corpse. At the scene, the military found the victim’s family, the boy’s parents said he had been kidnapped on Wednesday afternoon and stated that he had already been involved in drug trafficking. There is still no information about the authorship and motivation of the crime. Nobody was arrested.

18/11/2022 – Civil Police officers arrested a 39-year-old man in the Ajuda de Baixo neighborhood for selling robbed industrial machinery. According to the Civil Police, 13 double hydraulic hoses of 1/4 pressure, a torque pump, several documents, 3 laptops, 1 cell phone, 1 external HD, 1 vehicle, 9 cell phone chips and 1 silver suitcase containing equipment for Hydrostatic test with laptop were seized. The officers went to the scene after information that an alleged company would be selling high pressure equipment in the city, in a suspicious business context.
20/11/2022 – Military police seized a large amount of cocaine, crack stones and marijuana in the Bela Vista neighborhood. Police officers went to the scene after a man went to the police station to report that he was the victim of an attempted murder. The victim had a deep cut on his head and said that several people linked to a criminal faction that operates in the neighborhood would have attacked him. He managed to escape and asked the police for help. When police arrived, the suspects fled through a wooded area. While searching the area, the officers found the drugs.
22/11/2022 – A man died in a shooting in the Jardim Carioca 2 neighborhood after the Military Police received information about drug trafficking in the area. According to the police, upon arriving at the scene, officers found two armed criminals who ran away when approached by the officers. One of them shot at the police, who retaliated. One of the criminals was hit and died. The other man was arrested.

- After dark, avoid Glória and the Centro (Downtown).
- After dark, avoid walking alone in Praia Campista and Cavaleiros.
- Avoid Lagomar, Barra de Macaé, Engenho da Praia, Planalto da Ajuda, Ajuda de Cima, Ajuda, Morro de Santana and Morro de São Jorge (in Paraíso), Jardim Maringá, Barra, Nova Holanda, Malvinas, Botafogo, Aroeira, Parque Aeroporto and the surroundings of Favela da Linha (in between Visconde de Araújo and Cajueiros), as risks of collateral damage and assault are high in these areas.
- As much as possible, restrict movement in the districts of Novo Horizonte (in Vale Encantado) and Aeroporto. Do not walk alone in these areas and use only licensed taxis.
- Be always cautious, including in areas perceived as safe.
- Avoid any display of wealth (jewelry, cell phones), but always carry a small amount of money (R$50) to hand.
