PILOTS STRIKE COMES TO AN END

After reaching the 4th day of stoppages, the aeronauts’ strike was temporarily suspended on Friday (23/12). The decision was taken due to the Christmas weekend and for the category to vote virtually on a new proposal presented by the companies. After voting the new proposal, on Sunday (25/12) night, the workers decided to accept it, which ended the strike.

The Strike

Professionals who carry out activities directly related to the aircraft, such as commander (pilot), co-pilot, flight attendant, flight mechanic, navigator and flight radio operator decided to go on strike on 18 December after rejecting a proposal to improve working conditions prepared by the companies and mediated by the labor justice. However, the Superior Labor Court (TST) determined that of 90% of the employees had to keep working.

Stoppages have occurred at the airports of Campinas, Rio de Janeiro, Porto Alegre, Belo Horizonte, Brasília, São Paulo and Fortaleza.

Impacts

Because of the stoppages important airports, such as Congonhas and Guarulhos – both in São Paulo – have been having flights delayed and cancelled.
