26/07/2024 – Armed bandits stole two cars in under a minute in Méier on Friday (26). The crime took place outside a garage and was captured on security cameras. The images showed at least three bandits who approached two of the victims as they entered the garage of the building forced them out of the vehicle and opened their phones. Before the bandits fled the scene, they approached another car driving past forced the women inside out of the vehicle, and fled with the two cars.

29/07/2024 – An app driver was shot in the neck in the early hours of Monday (29) during a shootout in the Quitungo Community, in Brás de Pina, in the North Zone of Rio. According to reports, members of the Third Pure Command (TCP) who were trying to invade the area came across members from the Red Command (CV), there was an intense exchange of gunfire and two people were injured. Additionally, during the early hours of the morning, police intercepted four cars used by criminals to travel between communities. Two criminals, one of whom was identified as the head of drug trafficking in the Quitungo and Guaporé communities, were arrested.
29/07/2024 – A shootout occurred between rival criminals in Taquara, in the West Zone of Rio, on Monday (29). According to reports on social media, the shooting began when militiamen tried to invade the communities of Santa Maria and Teixeiras, which are dominated by drug traffickers from the Red Command (CV). Military Police were called to the scene and exchanged gunfire with the criminals, however, the action did not result in any arrests. The action was a result of the ongoing territorial disputes in the area.
30/07/2024 – The accountant of the largest militia in the state of Rio, was arrested on Tuesday (30), in Inhoaíba. According to the investigation, the suspect is responsible for the militia’s finances and reports directly to the leaders of the group. During the operation, a cloned and tampered vehicle and materials related to the militia’s accounting were seized.
30/07/2024 – Three men were arrested in Flamengo for pretending to offer help to the elderly to scam them on Tuesday (30). The investigation indicates that two of the suspects would offer to help the victims by suggesting they should use another cash register, implying the one they were using was defective. The third suspect took advantage of the distraction and carried out financial transactions from the account which was still open at the first teller. The suspects admitted having participated in a scam that caused a loss of R$2,500 to an elderly person.
30/07/2024 – A Military Police operation led to a shootout on Tuesday morning (30) in the communities of Vila Aliança and Senador Camará, in Bangu. Due to the operation buses that circulate in the region had to divert their routes and family clinics had to stop operating. One man was arrested, and a motorcycle and five stolen cars were recovered.
31/07/2024 – An attempted robbery ended with a suspect dead in Água Santa on Wednesday (31). According to witnesses, another accomplice managed to escape. Agents reported that they were shot at by the criminals and retaliated. After the ceasefire, one of the suspects was found dead.
31/07/2024 – A shootout between Military Police and criminals took place in Morro da Fé, in the Penha neighborhood, on Wednesday (31). Police officers from different battalions carried out operations in communities in the North Zone to prevent the movement of criminals involved in territorial disputes in the region. A police officer was grazed by a bullet.
31/07/2024 – A man died, and two other people were injured, including a military police officer, in a shootout on Wednesday afternoon (31), in Pavuna. The confrontation happened after an agent reacted to an attempted robbery. According to the Military Police, the officer, who was off duty, was driving along Rua Dias d’Avila when criminals announced the robbery. The officer reacted and there was a confrontation.
31/07/2024 – A taxi driver was stabbed by a man who pretended to be a customer and robbed the victim in Todos os Santos on Wednesday (31). The victim stated that in the middle of the ride the suspect put a knife to his neck and announced the robbery. The suspect stabbed the driver in the neck, arms, and hands; however, the driver was able to leave the car and called for help. The suspect was arrested shortly after the crime.
01/08/2024 – The Military Police carried out an operation in the Mangueira community on Thursday (1), which led to a shootout between criminals and police. According to the police, the operation aimed to guarantee the population’s right to come and go, in addition to recovering stolen and cloned vehicles. Residents in the area reported on social media that the confrontation was intense.
01/08/2024 – An intense shootout near Cordovil led to Avenida Brasil being closed in both directions, near the neighborhood in the North Zone of Rio, on Thursday morning (1). According to the Rio Operations Center (COR), the road was closed for approximately 20 minutes and was related to the Military Police’s actions in the area. The favelas in the Israel complex, located in the neighborhoods of Brás de Pina and Cordovil, have been the target of recurring police action. The police aim to contain a war waged by the Third Pure Command (TCP), a faction that dominates the region, with drug traffickers from the Red Command (DV) that control the communities of Quitungo and Guaporé.
