04/11/2025 – On Tuesday (4), at the Estaleiro Brasfels/Seatritum shipyard in Angra dos Reis, a man working as a metalworker was arrested by police. The man was detained under a preventive arrest warrant for the repeated sexual abuse of his own 11-year-old daughter. The crimes occurred over several years during the weekends when the girl was in his custody.
04/11/2025 – On Tuesday (4), in Morro da Fortaleza in the city center, the Civil Police busted a drug-dealing spot and arrested two men in the act. They were charged with drug trafficking and criminal association. At the scene, which was a trafficking tent with drugs displayed for sale, the police seized a large quantity of cannabis, cocaine, crack, ether, ecstasy, and other materials.

05/11/2025 – On Wednesday (5), in Promorar, in the Campo Belo neighborhood, the Civil Police arrested a man, a member of the Comando Vermelho (CV) drug faction. The individual, who acted as a “stocker” or “replenisher” of drugs for the local drug spots, was intercepted in his vehicle. The police seized large quantities of cocaine, marijuana, crack, and ether from both the car and his residence, dealing a blow to the faction.
06/11/2025 – The Federal Police in Angra dos Reis launched an operation against international drug trafficking on Thursday (06/11). Nine search and seizure warrants and two vessel seizures were carried out in São Paulo, Guarujá, Caraguatatuba, São Sebastião, and Rio de Janeiro. The target is a criminal organization responsible for the logistics and financing of sending large shipments of cocaine to the Europe, with investigations beginning after the seizure of about 2 tons of the drug in Bahia in 2023.
08/11/2025 – A man was arrested in the act on Saturday (08/11), inside the Specialized Police Station for Women’s Services (Deam/AR) in Angra dos Reis. The aggressor, who refused to accept the end of the relationship, pursued his ex-partner and her nephew into the station after assaulting and threatening them while under the influence of drugs. He was arrested for the crimes of bodily injury, threat, insult, and common assault.
10/11/2025 – On Monday morning (10/11), on Morro da Fortaleza, Civil Police arrested three men in the act of drug trafficking. The suspects were captured behind a table full of drugs, in a drug selling area with intense activity. They were charged with drug trafficking and association for drug trafficking. The operation resulted in the seizure of 1,080 capsules of cocaine, 1,455 packages of marijuana, and 700 rocks of crack.
13/11/2025 – A man was arrested by the Federal Highway Police (PRF) on Thursday morning (13), on the Rio-Santos Highway (BR-101), after being accused of sexual assault. Police were called because a woman jumped from his moving vehicle to escape the assault. The driver, who denied the accusation, was approached and was illegally transporting a loaded Taurus .380 caliber pistol. He was taken to the 166th Precinct to register the occurrence.
14/11/2025 – The Civil Police arrested two men on Friday (14), in Angra dos Reis, following arrest warrants issued under Operation Thor. The target is a gang that was extorting a businesswoman, demanding R$320 thousand under threat to her daughter, which escalated into the express kidnapping of the victim’s elderly mother (71). The elderly woman was abandoned and rescued by the teams. The investigation revealed that one of the arrested men knew the family’s routine, and the search for the other two individuals involved is ongoing.
14/11/2025 – A man, Leonardo Lopes (43) was fatally shot on Friday night (14), on the path connecting Verolme to Vila da Petrobras. The victim, who was wearing a Brasfels/Seatrium shipyard uniform, had just left work and was on his motorcycle. Known as Léo da Monsuaba, he was the son of a notorious resident and was very active in the horseback riding community.
19/11/2025 – Two men were arrested in the act by the Civil Police on Wednesday (19), in Banqueta. The operation targeted a Comando Vermelho (CV) drug spot that was operating openly among the buildings. The suspects were captured while attempting to flee and were in possession of drugs (marijuana, cocaine, and ether) and walkie-talkies. The action is part of Operation Arrasto, aimed at combating drug trafficking in the city.
22/11/2025 – The merchant Reginaldo Miranda Meireles (44) died on Saturday (22), at the Japuíba Municipal Hospital (HMJ), after 36 days of hospitalization. He was stabbed by his daughter’s ex-boyfriend in the early morning of October 17, on Rua 10 de Abril, in the Promorar neighborhood, Campo Belo. The attacker, who had a protective order against him, was arrested shortly after the assault. The Civil Police are investigating the case, with suspicions of premeditated crime and that the assassin did not act alone.
22/11/2025 – Agents of the Civil Police arrested two men in Casinhas do Bracuí, on Saturday (22). The operation, which targeted the Comando Vermelho (CV) drug trafficking, captured the traffic “manager” and the “runner”, after they attempted to flee the police blockade. With the manager, who was the main target, police seized a pistol, a radio, and a large quantity of drugs (crack, marijuana, cocaine, and poppers). In the same action, a drug monitoring center in an abandoned building was dismantled.
25/11/2025 – A highly dangerous man, a fugitive from the prison system, was arrested by the Military Police on Monday (25), on Rua Dona Romana in Vila do Abraão, Ilha Grande. The man, who had been living on the island for nine years under a false name, was convicted of homicide (committed using cruel methods) and robbery, facing a sentence of over 50 years in prison. He was transferred to the mainland and returned to the prison system.
26/11/2025 – Two men were arrested in the act by the Civil Police (166th Precinct) on Wednesday night (26), in the Center of Angra (in front of the 166th civil police precinct). The suspects were spotted by residents after stealing a tire from a parked car and fleeing. Captured minutes later, they confessed to the theft, claiming they intended to sell the tire to buy and consume crack. The stolen material was recovered.
TRENDS & ADVICE
- Shootouts remain the main risk facing personnel in Angra dos Reis. Several security operations related to drug trafficking are also registered every week.
- If you find yourself in the immediate vicinity of a shootout:
- lay on the ground and seek a solid cover.
- If you are in your car, the engine block is a good barrier behind which you could seek protection.
- When it is safe to do so, find the nearest building, stay away from any windows, and do not move until the gunfire has clearly ended.
- Pay attention to the sounds of shots when driving through BR-101, which has on its margins many gang-controlled zones.
- Be cautious when in the vicinity of ‘communities’, particularly: Morro da Fortaleza, Parque Belém, Sapinhatuba I, Sapinhatuba II, Sapinhatuba III, Areal, Parque Mambucaba, Japuíba, Frade, Bracuí, Morro do Santo Antônio, and Morro da Glória I and II.
- Avoid stopping on BR-101 roadside, due to cases of robberies, especially in the most isolated areas and after nightfall.
- Be careful when walking downtown as there is a risk of property crimes, thefts, and robberies.
- Attention to scams that may reach you through a WhatsApp message, e-mail, SMS, or a call.
