RIO DE JANEIRO SECURITY INCIDENTS – JUNE MONTHLY BULLETIN

Between January and April 2025, the state of Rio de Janeiro recorded 37 security agents murdered — a 106% increase compared to the same period in 2024, while deaths caused by police interventions rose 34.4%, from 212 to 285, according to data from Brazil’s Ministry of Justice. These trends contrast with national figures, which remained largely stable or declined slightly.

01/06/2025 – Fhillip da Silva Gregório, known as “Professor,” a drug trafficking leader in the Complexo do Alemão and a prominent figure in the Red Command (CV), was found dead from gunshot wounds on Sunday, 1 June, at the Del Castilho emergency unit, in the Inhaúma neighborhood, North Zone. Wanted since 2018, he was responsible for the group’s arms and drug supply. His mistress claimed he had taken his own life and handed over a weapon. Authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death.
